Cleveland County, OK Oil & Gas Discussion archives

Rec'd a call from a landman in Missouri interested in leasing 05-6N-1W for $200/acre. I declined but good to hear there is some interest there, haven't heard of much in Cleveland. Ranken just drilled 17-6N-1E (Bunch) and found a little oil there but haven't been able to find any production numbers.

Thanks, Sara. That one in 17-6N-1E is right next to one of Helen's. We would like to hear more on that. The other one you mentioned seems to be almost in Lex (where she was born), if I am plotting it correctly.

Curt, The completion report for the Bunch 05-6N-1E show the test results to be 175 BBL/day and no gas. That doesn't sound like much to me but it is only 80 acre spacing so the revenue will be spread over a smaller area which may make it more favorable to those with an interest. However test results and actual production/sales are two different things. I'll keep tryin to find the sales and let you know.

Curt, I have tried to send you another private message, but you probably can't read it either. if you will send me an email, I'll cut and paste my answer and send to you. Not trying to be secretive, but there are some things it is probably better that company people, speculators, etc., and others not know. [email protected]

I haven't had any lease offers for sec. 23 6N1E but I'll let you guys know if I do. From what I've learned over the last couple of years of doing this is to never rush into a lease. I made several leases before I realized what I was doing that I wish I had waited on. Maybe in time Cleveland co. get some of the attention that Grady county has been receiving.

Wesley - what exactly is the OK-NARO and its state convention? I live in Lexington, Kentucky now and only make it back to Oklahoma a couple times a year.

Vickie, OK-NARO is a chapter of NARO (National Association of Royalty Owners). http://www.naro-us.org/ One state membership, a monthly newsletter and the book “Look Before You Lease” (see a description on the NARO Store page) is included with the NARO membership. Even if you don’t think you can afford a membership, which I consider a bargain for anyone with potential or producing minerals, you have access to the website. Read the NARO mission statement. And no, I’m not getting a rebate on my membership for recommending membership.

NARO regularly offers testimony to state and federal legislative committees and panels, and alerts members when legislator contact is needed. An example is information about current efforts to eliminate our 15% depletion allowance. Click on the link found on the NARO home page “Statement for the Record...” or copy and paste this --- http://www.naro-us.org/Resources/Documents/Ways%20%20means%202013%20-%202.pdf .

Our Oklahoma chapter has been instrumental in helping monitor the development of rules and regulations by the Oklahoma Corporation Commission and track legislation in the Oklahoma Legislature to protect royalty owners. You can read the mission statement of the Oklahoma Chapter page on the website. I highly recommend reading the Winter 2013 state newsletter. Copy and paste this --- http://www.naro-us.org/Resources/NARO%20OK/2013%20OK%20NARO%20Winter%20Newsletter.pdf --- for some very interesting information.

If you have recently received a Division Order, your will notice a lot of fine print is included. In Oklahoma, a division order is not required to receive payments as long as you provide certain minimal information. The best alternative to the company crafted document is a Model Division Order Form which is available to anyone. Go to Resources and click on Forms to download.

To learn about the state convention and see a preliminary agenda, go to ABOUT NARO, then down to State Chapters, over and down to Oklahoma. Click on Get More Info and Register Here, then click on 2014 Convention Schedule.pdf. Always included are Mineral Management 101 and OCC Website Navigation. Many of the sessions include time for questions and answers. The vendors and sponsors booths also have freebies and offer a chance to visit personally with Customer Relations specialists from some of the producers.

My wife and I have attended since 2008, but have never attended a National Convention. If you have questions, please ask.

Received an offer from United Land Co. to lease 34-7N-1E. Not going to do anything at this time but am glad to see a little interest in the area. Anyone know about anything going on around there.

I own part interest in 34-T07N-R01E. I signed a lease with Silver Creek Mining. The lease is for $100 an acre with 3/16 interest. May I ask what your offer was from United Land Co?

They offered $150 for 1/8 or $100 for 3/16 or $0 for 1/5. United Land sent the offer as an agent for Silver Creek. I figured I could get at least that much in pooling and since I only have a small acreage the lease bonus isn't much. Do you know if Silver Creek is an operator? Or just someone who is trying to gather leases?

Yes, it was through United Land with Silver Creek. Same place. Same offers.

Sara and Donna,

Silver Creek acquired all the leases held by West Star Operating in Cleveland and Pottawatomie Counties late last year. The Assignment was recorded in Pott. Co. Dec. 30, 2013 and about the same time in Cleveland Co. This was many thousands of acres. West Star had sold all it's production acreage to PostRock Midcontinent Production, LLC, with the Assignment recorded Nov. 7, 2013. West Star offices are now closed.

Wesley, Yes, I spoke with a West Star rep and learned that information when my lease came up for renewal.

thanks

I have done oil rights in Cleveland Co, OK. My lease with West Star Opersting expired. (Silver Creek Mining bought all their leases.) I signed a new lease with Silver Creek. Today I got a letter from Scissortail Minerals Company (interestingly, the same address as the old West Star). They are wanting to buy my rights. I’m NOT selling, but I’m curious if others have gotten such letters? Also, was their a hostel buy out of the leases or what is going on with the company changing names?

My comment should say I have SOME oil rights.

Donna, I'll try to answer your questions to the best of my knowledge. Yes, a cousin received what is probably a form letter like yours. I don't think it just a name change. Scissortail Minerals has been in existence for quite some time. The president of Scissortail is the wife of Paul. You could search the Cleveland Co. and Pott. Co. clerk records (and probably others) and find they have been active for the past several years purchasing minerals.

I don't believe it was a hostile acquisition, as far a I know just regular business deals.

It is my understanding that when the WSO office closed, a residence nearby was acquired and some of the office furniture, maps, files, etc. were moved there. Not sure, but the Butler Dr. address may be where the phone was also transferred. Just my opinions to supplement what little I know.

Received DO on the Bunch today. Anyone else have any interest in 17-06N-01E?

DO? Wife has 24, adjoining.

I think that is a Directive/ drilling Order. Means they are starting to drill.

Thanks. I knew it wasn't Duty Officer...lol.
