I sure wouldn’t hold my breath on them keeping that office open. If they’ve flipped leases…they have nothing keeping them in Scobey, right?
Anyone know if Apache has an office in Scobey?
Quite frankly…I could care less who holds the lease as long as they drill and hit!!! Good luck everyone!
I for one am grateful to shale for getting the ball rolling. Let’s all just hope that it gains momentum now that the big boys have their weight behind it.
I guess Apache wouldn’t have done this had the test wells not looked good.
Mr.Kennedy, is it normal that a driller would keep secret their findings whether the finding were good or bad? I would think so, at least until the last moment.
Your thoughts?
Eastern Mt–thanks for responding and your insight. I will take your advice and not spend money not yet received also will not go and purchase pitchforks and torches.
Eastern, do you work in the industry? Thanks for the info.
does anyone know what the transportation plan is when Apache starts bringing oil to the surface?
I know the pipeline is going to be very close to Daniels county but I havn’t heard if this oil will flow through this pipline. I am sure at present Apache is not in a bit hurry to pull oil out because of the transportation issue, trucking and trains are expensive and it will take more than a year to get the pipeline built.
I’m sure some of you out there are more enlightened on this than I am.
I figure it will take a while, no worries, back to work, thanks for the info.
Right on!!!
The form letter … to avoid speculation… Brian…

Dear Mr./Mrs
. Mineral Owner
As you know, Shale Exploration, L.L.c. (“Shale”) has extended an offer to lease your minerals in Daniels
County, Montana.
We are writing to advise you that Shale has entered into an agreement with Apache Corporation which
provides for the assumption of ou
r operations by Apache in Daniels County.
As a result, Shale is transitioning our leasing operations, in certain
lands, over to Apache. In order to
make this transition, we must revoke the offer which we extended to you. As a result
, please consider
any offer you received from Shale as cancelled and revoked effective immediately
.
We appreciated your interest in this exploration effort.
Sincerely
Shale Exploration LLC
Big Daddy, I am not sure if Shale voiding all leases may neccessarily be a good sign. I would have thought that Apache would have wanted to retain the right to purchase leases where offers were still on the table. It may be that Apache feels their acreage boat is too lodaed to take on any more interest. They did the same thing down in Kansas in the Mississippi Lime. The leased until they had 580,000 net acres, then shut their leasing program down. This may be what has happened in Daniels County as well.
Big Daddy, did the landman say what mineral buying company he was with?
Yes, its Haggard land company with a 405 area code. People can start companies over night if they want, like Mr. Kennedy said, it could be part of another company wanting to get in. He didn’t seem surprised when I told him No, he wanted to know if I had a number in mind and I didn’t. I buy lottery tickets so I might just as well keep what I have.
My sources in scobey tell me that shale is pullin outa Daniels county. All 418k acres that shale leased were sold to apache.
Logic tells me that since they drilled one hole and afterwards purchased all of the acreage leased by shale they liked what the found in the first hole. Time will tell. We will know for sure once the first holes data is made public.
Ya. They sure made it sound like they were there to stay. Wal Mart never buys land for their next store in their own name. I’m tending to lean that way after seeing this deal go down.
Keep in mind that they have only drilled one well and that it is not fractured yet as far as I know. My guess is that it will be months before we know how the production of that well is or lack thereof.
Eastern Mt-- On the norm when they flip leases do they flip also the unpaid leases and then we would get paid by Apache if Apache so chooses or do they(SHALE) pay all their unpaid then turn them over to Apache.
Big Daddy, good or bad they will keep the results secret as long as possible, to keep lease costs down or to be able to sell off part or all of their holdings if results are poor. Unfortunately, unless the results are very good, there won’t be an immediate push to get all of Apahe’s leasehold into production especially in light of the long lease terms Shale Exploration bragged about on their website. I believe that they were seeking such long term leases for a reason, rig availability is going to be a problem for some time. Even with great production, there are not a great many rigs that are not already committed right now and for the coming year and possibly two years. I hope the production is great, for the benefit of all concerned.
