Daniels County, MT - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

Bonnie, some questions, Has anyone in your group signed a lease or a division order? Do you have access to the pay ledger? Will it identify the well number, and township/range and section(s)? Does it identify Oil or Gas or both? For your personal knowledge and thoughts, does your decimal percentage seem large or small? Who’s name is on the pay ledger? Does everyone share 25-40 dollars or do each of you get it? Please do not post personal items, I am not asking for them… A lot of things to consider in narrowing down the mystery…

Tran, don’t really know what to think about Shale and it would only be speculation at this point, so I will defer comment other than it seems they lease every three years.

I got the same letter, if anyone hears what they are offering please post, we all know what shale offers.

Thanks

Just an update…I guess there is a lease for the Sheridan County well…but it must have been inherited by my uncle since it isn’t in his name. Still working on tracing this situation.

Has anyone heard of Dale Land & Minerals? Got a letter from them today. Not sure what they’re offering but thought I’d call and find out. After reading all these posts, I feel much more confident in talking to them. Thanks everyone.

I just spoke to John Newman from Dale Land & Minerals. They want to BUY the leases. That would end my involvement. Prices for 1/6th royalty are $750 a net acre and 1/8th royalty are $500 a net acre. Tempting, however if they’re willing to do that…I’m willing to be patient a bit longer I think. Any thoughts?

I’ve already leased with Shale. Dale is wanting to buy my lease. I would be done with the oil business…if they (Shale/Apache) drill and locate oil, instead of me getting the royalties…Dale would get them. I’d have no further interest in any oil. Guess I’m not explaining it very well.

Doesn’t make sense that they would pay a higher bonus with the higher royalty.

I know…I’ve been patient for nearly 27 years…guess I can wait a while longer. Thanks for helping me clarify the situation Eastern MT.

I’m not sure I would categorize this as a “bonus”. They want to buy my royalty percentage - an outright purchase. That way…when and if oil is found they make more on the higher royalty leases. At least that’s how I’m looking at it.

I’m confused…Dale Minerals is going to buy your minerals in Daniels County and give you a royalty interest? If not, does this mean Dale Minerals is offering $750 per acre to lease minerals in Daniels County? Are they backed by a driller? Or are they going to try to flip it to Shale and Apache? Sounds like a scam to me, but at that price, I want in!!!

Dale wants to buy Bonnie’s MINERALS, not buy her LEASE. If Dale purchases her minerals they are bound by the terms of any lease Bonnie previously signed. So Dale’s purchase price to buy her minerals is higher if her lease is at a higher royalty rate (1/6th), and their purchase price will be lower if she leased the minerals at a lower royalty rate (1/8th).

I wouldn’t encourage selling minerals anywhere. Though if you need the money, it is an opportunity to pick up cash from the LEASE bonus, then pick up Dale’s additional cash for the SALE of your minerals. However, once your minerals are sold they are gone forever.

If I’m not mistaken, that’s right close to where my mineral rights are. Don’t they have this “unit” thing…if they drill and hit in a “unit” that is 1280 acres…everyone in that unit gets the royalties??? Right?

Thanks for the info Eastern Mt. Is the permits in addition to the already four permits Shale has approved. My brother is still in the Scobey area trying to work out a deal to get our land leased. We got a lawyer so do not know how Shale will respond with the changes the lawyer has requested. Shale is suppose to start drilling end of July or 1st of Aug. Time will tell

Bonnie— I was told 3 were stateland and one private. My brother was told that most of Shale’s drilling will be (with these first wells) in the Four Butts area. Hopefully you are one of them.I also have a brother who farms in the Whitetail area and he said that Apache is trying for approval of 4 new wells.–do not know what area. Hope everythings works well for you

I don’t know of any new areas. I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

Apache Corp filed for two new horizontal drilling permits on this week’s MT Board of O&G report. Both wells on the same location; T36N-R46E, Sec 24 NESE.

“Lindley 24-10H-T”, designated for Three Forks formation.

“Lindley 19-9H-B”, designated for the Bakken formation.

Yes Pattie…I haven’t been to Scobey since I was a child…but I think there were two farms…Four Buttes and Madoc. I THINK they might be southeast of Scobey…but certainly in Daniels County. And regarding the permits Shale already has approved, I thought they were on state land. Could be wrong on that.

When they apply for wells…it has to go thrugh the Montana Gas and Oil Board and it should be listed on their website. The first four were also listed in the Scobey newspaper. I check those two sites every now and again. Just Google them. I think I’m right on this information. Eastern MT…any thoughts?

Bonnie --Where is your land located ?—the Scobey area?

How do you find where they are drilling?
