Stephanie, since the lease is signed, your landman might not still be working for the company. There should be a Land Dept that keeps up with leased land. You could start with your contact landman and if you don’t get a good answer try the main company. You might find the info online. Maybe somebody has more info on this.
Sounds like you should contact the Land Dept. for your company.
Stephanie, If any of this helps. The oil companies will continue to find new tracts of land to lease. They will sometimes miss a tract that is tied to a family. They need to negotiate a new lease for each tract. As far as old leases that are still held by any company those are different. Those old leases will usually be retained by production. If say Antero wants to get involved they will have to go through the current lease holder. Trying to search all of the generations is a task. Those companies should be able to eventually find you if there are still mineral rights that are left to you. They even use census info to find people. I know it takes time but, some of the researchers start out looking for people who have been deceased for several years. Most of the court houses only have books and more books to look through. They probably figured no one would ever need this much info?? The traffic at the court houses has got so bad that they have time limits a person can spend looking at the records. I hope some this post helps with your situation.
Mr. Stuart, thanks for sharing the info on searching and the tools. I get on this site to try to help folks who have no idea about mineral rights leasing. I hate to see people get a bad deal when it comes to something like mineral rights. After those folks sign a lease I do not have much concrete info for them. A lot of people fall victim to the aggressive land agents and if I can give them any info to help them then that’s a plus. I don’t sit around much wandering about an oil/gas well which I can not do anything about even if I wanted to. No one has much if any control over a oil/gas company once they sign a lease. You may catch them up on some infractions down the road but they have the money.
I spend most of my retired time going to church, fishing and hunting and time with family. If you noticed I did not mention anything about mineral rights or oil/gas or a check in that sentence.
Mr Robinson, if your lease is in New Milton District, Little Tom’s Fork area, Map 14 partial 9 then your permit # is 47 017-6154. According to the downloads that well is shown as not complete, call your family or neighbors
Thanks DT and Nancy for your comments. I will follow up where I can and hopefully find out something useful!
We signed in 2010 with 10 Mile Land, LLC in Bridgeport. Thanks
If they won’t free up your property for non payment, so you can LEASE it to a “real” company, you may have to get an attorney.
So, your saying I can’t sell to one of these offers at this time? How do I find out the what kind of money these Companies are making. Seems like they know something that we need to find out asap to make the right decision. If I wait it out will the gas Company be more?
More money to be made to lease and get a good bonus and a good royalty percentage. If they drill you could make some good money for a long time. Sell and you get some money but once you sell the mineral rights are gone for the next generation in your family.
We have mineral rights in Doddridge County. How long does it take to hear something? We have been receiving letter from Companies wanting to purchase our rights. How do we decide if we have no information. Who do we call? Thanks for any information available.
We did the lease several years ago.we haven’t heard anything. We just sent it back etc… Nothing … New Milton??
Thanks … I will call in the morning. Something good is happening in Doddridge County. I just don’t want to go with a company in these letters till I have more information.
Thank you for taking the time to explain it to me. I will be busy on the phone in the morning getting answers. This site has been very helpful. Thanks, Linda
We signed in 2010. Called Doddridge County today and getting mixed info on acres from 15 to 73 acres. They said the title will have the correct amount. The leasing Company does the title search? Thanks …
Ms. Haught, You stated you signed a lease several years ago in one post and then you said you signed in 2010 in another. Could you tell the forum step by step on what you can concerning your lease signings? I and every one on here will try to help but, you will have to give us more detailed info than what you posted.
10 Mile land is a company that buys leases and resells them to producers like Antero for a profit. They are NOT a producer. If Antero or any other producer is interested in your rights, they can provide you the legal paperwork to vacate the lease with 10 mile based on non-payment
We signed a lease so they could drill.
Linda, On your copy of the lease, Ten mile Land should have referenced a Map Number and Parcel Number, however, I have signed 3 leases with Ten mile and looking at them now I see only one that has map & Partial number, Two of the leases have expired and when calling them they say that they had no right in leasing to me in the first place ( something about the title). Between all of us on this forum " I am sorry to say this, but I think they are a bunch of crooks". I do have a number that you can call, and I hope that you have a lease #.
The Telephone # is 304-623-5263. The last time I called, I talked with Kara Albertson. They could not give me a reason for the error, and never called me about the screw up , so a lesson learned, I would not lease with this company with a ten foot pole. Your case may be entirely different, so If I were you I would make that call.
We have received no payment and no information. No signing bonus Nothing!! Now Companies want to purchase. If the lease expires where do you go from there? If something is happening on the property. Thanks for all your information. Are there others getting these letter?
