Tim, a lot depends on what is profitable for the operator. Unit size, distance to a disposal well. Some of these horizontals were to hold leases and then come back with increased densities. This early in this area operators are moving fast not to lose leases to competitors. Some of the wells they drilled also keep the deep rights below that might end up being more valuable at a later time.

Also, some wells are choked back for reasons that have to do with infrastructure. Like distance to a pipeline or disposal wells in place so they don’t constantly have to haul off water by truck.

Where do I get a platt map to let me keep up with all these wells? I have minerals in 35-2W-5W and in 30-20N-4W and I can’t figure where they lie in all this. Longfellow leased our quarter in 35 and a permit has been filed by BRG for a straight hole on 30…

You stated that they had a plat book, most county also have a plat map. I don’t know what you want, but I like the map because it’s big and I can tract things for miles away. The book is only by township with is 9 square section each way. Also, some county plat book will list the property by owner and the amount of acres in each tract. I like having both in case I want to find out who owns some land near by.
