Garfield County, OK - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

We just received today a letter requesting to perform seismic operations on our land just west of Douglas in Section 35. They offered $800 to do so on 80 acres, which we assume is our half of the 160 we own there. My cousins side of the family owns the other 80. Anybody else get anything on this, and what is the usual lease on seismic? And, I assume it’s a good thing because it indicates they are getting really serious about drilling on us.

@Tim, $10/acre is all we got approximately 1 1/2 years ago for our 160 acres.

The leasing company says they are going to do seismic on 80 square miles on everything west of Douglams, OK, so looks like Devon is going to get serious about Garfield and maybe southern Kingfisher County. I’ll see the map of their seismic on Monday when I visit the agent.

80 square miles of seismic, it appears all in Garfield County. I wish I would have taken notes. The eastern line is Douglass, and it goes in a square from there. I think it goes all the way down to the county line South and perhaps to the north. I’ll try to call him and find out. Definitely good news for us on the western side of the county where development hasn’t been as hot and heavy…

On another note, I own acreage in Kingfisher county about four miles from the Blaine/Kingfisher county line near Loyal. Newfield Exploration leased our land for $800 an acre. They have a big Cano Woodford play that is creeping north into our area. They have a very impressive record of drilling big wells in this shale and are good operators from what I have heard from guys in the business. The Woodford is generally a larger producer than the Mississippi, again, from what my oil business buddies tell me. Here is Newfields second quarter operating report…

Perhaps they will keep going north into Garfield County also…If so, the new seismic can’t hurt this possibility…

Tim, I’d love to hear what you found on Monday.

I could fine nothing on 6-21n-3w . No spacing ,pooling , or permit .

I’ve had to letters offering to purchase minerals this week. Both listed locations so maybe it’s just not generic requests. Has anyone checked out the offers? Mine are in section 27 21N 3W. I don’t have many but it is still keeping my hopes up. ha

I see that Limestone Exploration has sold all of there interests in Garfield and Noble counties. Any idea who picked it up? I know that most of it had originally been leased by Devon.

I know I am new at this but why would Limestone sell all of their interest in Garfield and Noble Counties?

Very interesting article I ran across:

http://theenergyharbinger.com/2013/07/01/verticals-could-be-key-to-…

If you will check you county clerk records, you will find that Devon purchases all or most of the leases that Limestone had. Why, probably paid Limestone a lot of money. Devon likes large acres like 9 square miles when they come into an area and that was probably the only way they could get it. Plus they are doing a lot more seismograph of the same property that was worked last fall. They want a little more information I have been told. So, I’m sure they will start drilling once that information is in.

If there company is as shoddy as their website, I’m glad they sold their stuff. I have a lease with them so I will be interested to see who bought them.

W Schweer Devon has a spacing pending in 6-21n-3w .

Page 13 is an interesting “General Education” tidbit regarding the Mississippi Lime play. It is an estimate regarding Vertical Well decline rates over a roughly ten year period.
