Ok guys, another question out of my ignorance. On Fridays post, Richard said a guy told him the new Mashburn well had “a lot of gas”. What is a “normal” production rate for natural gas?
David…There’s a “new normal” out there now. Records being broken every few wells, it seems. And like Hutch said these wells in the Scoop are producing “wet gas” that sells much better than dry gas.
I believe Hutch is talking “per day”. Our well the “Branch” came in at 8 million cubic feet of gas per day and 480 bbls of oil a day (which was considered a great well) but they soon “pinched or choked” the well back to a little less that 300 bbls. of oil and 4 million cubic feet of gas (for the good of the well) and I think that’s what they have done to all of these wells around here in the Scoop.
Well, we’ve got some more words we need to eat this morning. Our Newfield friend said he went to three locations at the diggins yesterday and there were some royalty owners out on all three of them. There was even one in the meter house checking out stuff. He said they couldn’t have that going on because if someone got hurt they would all be in a heap of trouble. He said they didn’t mind people knowing what was going on but they would have to start locking the gates if they didn’t stay off the locations. Guess everyone needs to do like I was doing and catching the people as they come off location or talking to them at the coffee shop. They’ve been so good to keep us informed that I hope the ones on here will listen to this advice. Otherwise we may all get cut off from information like Continental has done on locations. Sorry to be the bearer of this news!
Moving on…word this morning is the rig on the Campbell is about half moved off that location and on to the Branch.
Hutch, In regards to your answer for David. Is that per hour or day? We are both new to the mineral rights. David and I are brothers.
Yeah I can understand people (royalty owners like myself) wanting to know whats going on, but as far as going onto location or meter rm. is a little extreme.
Yes, the company man said “I told him I was not getting onto him but we couldn’t have people doing that”. I can sure understand that. OSHA has sure been patroling and have MANY more rules than they did when P was working. Some really good rules and some silly ones too but the oil companies have to abide by them or get stiff fines.
I hesitated to post this information because I don’t really understand it completely but here goes. On the new Mashburn in Sec. 33, 3n,4w well they have decided to go ahead and put it online even before the frack water is all out. They are getting lots of gas and traces of oil but they are not worried about the oil because they feel it is coming. To save money on Flow Testing people they have let them go and put it online now. So, our Newfield man may not be able to tell us any more about that one as he only takes care of them until they go on line.
We’re having a little thunderstorm but hubby’s golf buddies called and those crazy guys are playing in the very light rain. Praying the lightening doesn’t get them. Also praying the rain starts MUCH heavier as we need it so much!!! I hope they get SOAKED but not STRUCK!!
Flooding in Australia. We need them to share just a little bit!
Linda, It is my fervent hope that you will pay particular and devout attention to the care and feeding of Preston. He is a real time source of much needed information that, in my case at least, allows for a relaxed state of mind.
Michael Joslyn, as Linda said per day. MCFD=thousand cubic feet (per) day BOPD=barrels oil (per) day.
Richard…I’m sure Preston would say a hearty “AMEN” to me giving him the devout attention to the care and especially to the feeding of him. I kid him about how I retired from cooking after 35 years when he retired from working. lol
Thanks again to everyone here for sharing so much knowledge; I’ve been watching the groups (Garvin, Stephens & Grady) and learn something new pretty much every day!
I’m curious what experiences people have with Triad? I just found that we’re being force pooled for a small interest in 16-3N-4W. Looks like the bonus options are great based on poolings in the surrounding sections (updated garvin pooling summary).
I would appreciate any thoughts on best course of action when there is an imminent pooling. My sense is that there is no downside to waiting for the pooling vs negotiating a lease now – they didn’t make much of an effort to contact us.
It seems like this area is very active; wondering if the risk is low enough to consider participating and would appreciate thoughts on that.
Chris this pooling is for a 160 acre well to the Deese formations. We have some interest in some Deese wells in 30 &31 4n-4w . We have interest in 16 3n-4w but not under this well. I’ll get you more info tomorrow on wells in 3-4 to Deese.
Chris, nice spreadsheet. The only downside to waiting for pooling would be if pooling doesn’t happen you get no bonus. I’ll leave the pros and cons of participating to those who have but I look at it like any other investment, can you afford to lose the money?
Jason and Richard…Wouldn’t this one on 29, 3n,4w be right beside the Sec. 28 that you guys have? Sounds really good!!!
Sounds like an absurdly low price to steal err I mean buy any royalty in these parts for! What town is that closest too? Any royalty in all of Garvin Co. would be worth much more than that! I can’t believe that would even have the nerve to offer it! I guess you read my mind when I said "DON’T DO IT!!!
Michael Burke, 1N/1W is on the eastern edge of the current hot spot. Someone is betting it will move that way and wants to get in cheap. Unless you really need the money I would hang in there and see what happens. Be careful about leasing too, they will start off lowballing that as well.
This group here is great. I learned quite a lot and I thank you. Chris, like you, I have had dealings with Triad for the past 8-plus years. My interest is in 9-1N-2W. While I haven’t received enough money from these past few leases to make me donate to the Republican Party, they have given me a few thousand dollars over that time period. While no drilling permits have been issued, I’ve been told that they do plan to drill a well there this year. Honestly, I hope they wait. Now, I know what to negotiate for in a lease. Baby Steps to December 2014! LOL! Good luck!
