Did you see price of oil today? $49.75 B
it looks like North Dakota Light Sweet is at $39.21 a lot of us have that type of oil.
your royalty check this month, January 2015, will reflect the price of oil your operator received in November 2014...or the price they hedged at...or contracted for at some other time in the past......but the price you see right now is not what will reflect on your next check.....
I think it is very unwise to view royalty income as a steady, consistent, plan your budget around type income.
If you buy homes or cars or take on debt that relies on future royalty income...then....buy ulcer medication too.
Light sweet crude seems to be a problem for US refineries. They are set up to handle the stuff from the mideast and Nigeria. If the government would approve export permits for crude oil, things would get better. I don't see that happening for the next two years.
That said, who knows what will happen. Especially in the mideast.
Invest your revenue and live within your means.
Okay.. I'm out of here. Glad everyone got to vent. My personal finance situation is complicated and I won't explain it here. Let's hope we all get the income we need in 2015.
