Good for you for being a hard worker. Sometimes we stumble into mineral ownership and it can be hard to get started in understanding it.

A good place to read about it is in the Mineral Tab above. Also the BLOGS category on the forum.
Ask tons of questions. Most of us have been in the same place. There are so many resources for free online. You just found this one! We will try to help you as much as we can.

Given that you are new to everything, you may get offers to buy. Get informed about what you have and what it is worth before jumping at any of them. Many of them are lowball offers just to see if folks will bite. Take time to get your feet under you.

One of the videos at the following link makes a very good point: mineral rights are an asset you need to manage. The folks here on this forum and at NARO are wonderful resources to help you manage your mineral asset.

If you own the surface rights, you will be on the corporation commissions respondents list. Lots of mineral purchasing companies use this to mail letters and try to figure out who owns minerals. This very well could be the case.

Can anybody give me a reference on someone to use to handle all this mineral mumbo jumbo. I have no idea what to do or how to go about any of this.

There is a good little book called Look Before You Lease by James Stafford. It is out of print, but NARO-US may have it if you can’t find it on Amazon.

The Oklahoma Corporation Commission has a good reference manual that is free. http://occeweb.com/OG/Basic%20Information%20417.pdf

We are here to help you learn about your minerals and how to handle them. Ask questions and we will do the best we can to answer them. You can hire a minerals manager, but you would have to pay them part of your profits. Or you can learn and keep the money all for yourself.

I saw this today for you guys in the section on OK Energy today site :

What does all that mean, Joe?

I am just looking at the production they listed. 914, 1001, and 863 barrels of oil per day coming out of those wells. That is pretty impressive ! Plus some decent natural gas. Somebody is making some money !
