CHK has drilled the Covington 1H (another apparent Goodland horizontal) in Smith Co NW of Tyler. Rumors are that they are prepping for another well in Ned area but no permits have been filed yet. CHK is the only player in this area chasing the Goodland - they appear to control the acreage position.
I know that CHK is renewing leases in the Ned W-2 area
Clint, do you know if that is anywhere near A491/sec 534? Thanks
Ned 1H is approximately 4 miles to the S/E. I do know that Chesapeake has acreage leased just to the East of your A-491 up to Van Zandt County.

Based on my memory of the structure maps in this area, A491 is outside the "rim syncline" structural low that is the preferred area for Goodland horizontals (due to better organic content and probably oil in place).
Their leasing should mirror this structural low.
However, CHK may opt to try to test the section outside of the syncline / low.
Thanks for the map, this will help me in future to understand where these wells are being drilled.
Thanks everyone for your comments.
Chesapeake has applied in February, 2017 for a 2nd drilling permit at Ned 1H and was approved in March, 2017
The second permit was simply an amendment to the first permit, changing the field from "Wildcat" to "Girlie Caldwell (Goodland Lime)"
Thanis for the clarification, Alan.
You are welcome!
