If you go again, or anybody else, there might be hotels, restaurants, etc somewhere in Doddridge available. I know there are a few in Ritchie, nothing "mainstream" for hotels but some "mainstream" eating establishments. Like McDonalds in Ellenboro (on Hwy 50). There is a pretty nice hotel and decent restaurant at the North Bend State Park in Cairo in Ritchie County, a few miles off the highway. My cousin has a hotel in Harrisville, but it requires calling ahead to make arrangements (Heritage Inn). Harrisville is maybe 10 minutes south of Highway 50. Other restaurants in Harrisville and Pennsboro (Ritchie County, on Hwy 50) but not too many open on Sundays.
Etc.
We need a discussion about accommodations when visiting Doddridge County!
Shaun, your comments make me so sad. Like you my roots go way back to the early 1800s.
Nancy I was just thinking
Last night about ordering the paper to watch for auctions and such. Sorry this new phone is smarter than I am.
Haha about the phone, Mine does crazy things too.
I like getting the local papers (Ritchie has 2) and seeing what is going on, and watch for the Notices about horizontal wells (at least 3 weeks they have to run notices in the paper of the intent to drill a horizontal well at certain coordinates, with the web address where you can map those coordinates, so people with property nearby can object if they want to. Then often the week after that the permit will show up on the Weekly Report. Sometimes not. Interesting to watch. Also notices about lost heirs, with lots of information. School news, county commission news, ads for local businesses, etc. It takes me there for a few minutes when I read it. Real estate transfers. Letters to the editor (very interesting sometimes). Farm themed comic strips (I like those!).
Ok enough about that. Arnold has the information.
