Buzz- Yes, I am under lease with CWEI. Well began producing in Oct 2011

Bob – 12 miles east of Balmorhea, Forest Oil is drilling the KENNY STATE 308 #1 (389-33159), spudded 2-22-11, located in H&GN BLK 13, SEC 308 (A-4747).
Concho Resources (COG Operating) has a bunch of leases in your area straddling the Reeves/Pecos County border, but they aren’t active just yet.
David – the wells in Sections 325 and 326… can you provide more information… are they recent? TIA – Later – Buzz
Bob – Sec 228 is more like 8.6 miles E of Balmorhea. FWIW, the Abstract # is the singlemost handy item in locating a property. Later – Buzz
I generally keep track of the leases for the family land and another relative keeps track of the wells, so I don’t have that info in front of me, but I believe they’re both relatively new (I think one went online in 2009 and another in early 2010)
I’m in Sec 300 with CWEI, so any shared regional info is greatly appreciated.
Sec 258 to the north, is scheduled for June I am told.
Bob, my family has a patch of land in Blk 13 to your immediate northeast, and we have some land in Blk 1 (directly east of the Blk 13) as well as some holdings directly north in Blk 52 T-8. The majority of our interests are presently under lease.
Buzz, I don’t have the abstract but, it is T & P survey.
Thanks,
Louise
Kreg, I have befriended an individual in the company that leased from me, such that I will be receiving daily reports when activities begin.
Buzz, thank you so much for your help, I found it. Now one other question is this. It shows a well on the land that I didn’t know was there. How can I check this out to see when it was drilled and by who etc etc…
Once again thank you for your help, It is appreciated.
Louise
Marc, here’s a map (I can’t vouch for how accurate it is) which purports to show the different formations in W. Texas: http://www.bonespring.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/wo…
So your section (and my families interests that aren’t far from 227) seem to be well within the bone spring shale area and the larger permian basin fields. Anyone here with more local knowledge can maybe weigh in on how accurate that map is.
Thanks Buzz
that section and well: “Forest Oil is drilling the KENNY STATE 308 #1 (389-33159), spudded 2-22-11, located in H&GN BLK 13, SEC 308 (A-4747)” is just 2 miles from our section 228 (A-1371)
thanks for the information–I did not know a well is being drilled so close by.
is there anything else I should know about leasing activity in the area
ALL – this is a repeat… but it’s well worth it if just one on you find it handy… interactive General Land Office Map Viewer.
GO TO: http://www.glo.texas.gov/GLO/agency-administration/gis/index.html
Near the lower center on the first screen, click the hot-button: Launch GLO - GISWEB Viewer
When the large map screen appears, click on ‘AGREE’ on the disclaimer; than double-click on your area of interest to zoom-in (repeat double-clicking as necessary). Notice in the upper left corner you can navigate like on Google Maps (sort of vague).
In the upper right corner appears a ‘Map Contents’ box where you can activate different overlays, e.g., “Original Texas Land Surveys” and “Other Map Layers”, etc. Then, as you zoom-in, county lines, roads, survey sections, etc., appear.
On the horizontal menu bar just above the 'Map Contents" box you can select “Streets”, “Aerial” or “Topo” view.
In the upper light blue menu bar, you can select “Tool Set” and draw and measure distances between points, get driving directions and a number of other things. Notice also that you should ‘Print’ from the blue menu bar. BEST OF ALL, the Help button ? presents a drop-down menu featuring 15 instructional videos to help you along.
Again, in the upper light blue menu bar, you can select “Search Tools” (the magnifying glass), then select ‘County and Abstract Search’ to get another box… enter county & abstract number/hit ‘search’ and… PRESTO!.. a little red box highlights your section.
If some features don’t ‘cooperate’ instantly, you may need to give the application additional time to load… or you might try zooming in or out in order for that particular application to ‘appear.’
I’ve just scratched the surface on what this interactive map can do!!!
Hope this helps – Later – Buzz
Bob - I take it your 2-1/2 sections are not leased? TIA – Later – Buzz
Bob – you might check with your trustee to try and stir up some new action. Later – Buzz
I own about 425 acres M/L in reeves county. It’s located in the West 2/3 of Section 227, Block 13. Does anyone know what formations run under that area?
Stephen - How in the heck did you find out your scheduled in June for the Sec 258?
I cannot ever get CWE to tell me anything in regards to a drilling schedule.
that is correct, Buzz
our last least ran out 12 months ago
Louise – I’m showing T&P 55-4-8 as being 19 miles NW of Pecos. The Abstract Number is A-2098. I’m seeing an original grantee name of E.C. Evans.
Does any of this seem to straighten things out? Later – Buzz
Howdy, folks…new member of mineralweb and the Reeves County Fourm, although a long time reader. Glad to see things “heating up” out in old Pecos. I grew up there, graduated High School there in 1972…I even see a few familiar names in the member list.
