This isn't the same situation, but our children had not received notice of taxes due for some inherited minerals . We had lived in the same house and never received any notices, but a relative noticed their names in the local paper and contacted us. From there, my husband went to the county & paid the taxes. He did it quickly, before being contacted by a different oil company who wanted him to sue the company who was claiming the minerals. This was in Texas, and apparently some thought there was something underhanded going on. Do you live in the same area, and was there a public notice of some sort?
Yes there was a public notice but I don't live in the area so never saw it. And my name was misspelled anyway so wouldn't necessarily have known it was me!
