Linda, could it be the Forest 2-8H?
I received a notice about a hearing that happened in December regarding sections 14 and 23 2n 4w requesting new spacing for the Goddard source of supply. Does anyone know what that means? These are the sections that the Boles wells were drilled in and I thought they were Woodford. Any thoughts?
“makes better sense” not “since” Tomato…Tomaato
I read the completion report in the Oklahoman this morning. It’s the Forest 2-8H.
Martha, thank you again. I always learn something new. Dumb question. Are the other Springer wells touted by CLR &NFX actually in different shale formations or is there a Springer shale formation?
Ed - Thanks for the update on the Oceana. I will post the completion report when I see it posted OCC website.
Ed - What is happening on the Oceana well site? Thanks Jerry
I don’t remember how many new Kelly wells they are drilling but yesterday I was going to Davis and I traveled down through that part of the diggings. The three rigs that were closest to highway 76 south of Lindsay were gone and looked like 5 tanks set on each location. Didn’t look like any of those were colored like water tanks. Then as I went on east on highway 29 there were 4 rigs still standing across there so I don’t know if they are all Kelly’s or if they were on the next section east of there but at least one of them had a LOT of pipe in the derrick.
Hubby had brought in out of the Oklahoman a couple of days ago an intent to drill another Honeycutt which said section 15. The section where most of the Honeycutt’s are padded is section 22 , I believe
oops, hit the “add comment” too quickly and didn’t finish my last post so
continued: I don’t know whether they mean this Honeycutt will be padded in 22 going across 15 (where the Vanarkel and the Jerry are) or whether it will be padded in 15. Someone probably knows those answers but not me.
Going back to the Kelly’s. It looked like they could be building another location over east of the other wells but could see for sure what was going on from the highway.
2 big trucks were lined up on the highway down that way also and on them looked like new compressor equipment.
Newfield has not been very forthcoming with info about the new Kelly wells. I would think some of them should have first sales info by now.
Hutch…I bet you’re right on that name. I asked him if the Foster well was in Stephens Co. and he said yes but I didn’t know of any well by that name in Stephens so Forest makes better since.
Pretty sure the Boles wells were all in the Woodford. Regarding your notice… Not sure what all that means.
Sometimes it even makes cents.
Technically, the Springer is a sand. The Goddard is the shale underneath it and is the non-conventional reservoir similar to the Woodford. Since it is a different formation and different technique, it needs to be permitted differently.
It appears Ed has information that Oceana looks like “good gas well but no oil.” This is disappointing but a good example of " don’t get your hopes up". Does it ever occur that wells change from gas to oil?
Martha, disregard my private question to you. I understand a little better after the explanation you gave below diane
James,
The Goodard Shale is right under the Springer so think of it as another Woodford, but shallower. Maybe not quite so prolific, but many of the wells have been quite nice. Here is a map of where the well will go. Also a stratigraphic column, so you can see where it sits. Find the Springer and under it is the Chester Group. The Goddard is in there.
Kyle, NFX pulled a drilling permit for Clarence 1H-14 today. SHL in Sec 23 02N 04W. Listed Goddard as only source. The Horizontal covers all of Sections 23 & 14. There was an issue calling it a Springer because of prior permits. I think It’s a Springer with a different name.
Mike-
So this will be a different well than the Boles that are in those sections just targeting a different source of supply? Sorry if these are silly questions, I just do not know a ton about this stuff.
Thank you to everyone for all the guidance.
Kyle, yes it is different from Boles and Kelly’s which are in Woodford Shale
Jerry,
Talked to the person checking the well, I think he’s part of the flow back crew. He said it looks like a good gas well, but no oil. The man said the first sale is usually when the flare goes out and then it goes to the pipeline.
According to our records, the flare went out around 4 pm on Sunday January 4th.
