Stephens County, OK - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

John, I agree, it is very encouraging for mineral owners, locally. I’m not sure it’s good for the big picture, but with cutbacks in other areas, maybe energy prices will continue to rise. I’m excited for those of us in the SCOOP, though, as it sounds like activity will fare better than others which is also good news for the many people who live in this area and need the jobs associated with E&P. Thanx for posting that article.

From coffee shop talk the Smith well (wherever that is) was at 12,000 ft. this morning and they were “trippin” pipe so we’re thinking they are probably changing to directional tools to go into the horizontal.

From our trip to the diggings this afternoon this is what we saw. Just on the north side of Stephens Co. line and back west a couple of miles it looks like (believe this is in Garvin Co.) are two new rigs up. Believe it said on the signs on the highway they were Cactus rigs 160 and 165.

Then in Stephens 2n4w we saw the rig up in section 23 but I forgot the name of that one.

Three Honeycutt well rigs were still up.

They are fracing the two Kelly wells that at closest to highway 75. We could see the other Kelly’s from where we were.

They were also fracing the Jerry in section 15 2n4w (or that’s where the pad is anyway).

They had a truck in on the pad of the Jarred testing the bottom pressure.

Hutch and other interested they had a snubbing unit in on the Poteet #1-17H and some trailers too so guess they are working on it. Maybe it will make more when they are finished.

Still not even finished the pad for the McElroy #2 much less start anything. Nothing different going on that we could tell. We didn’t go down toward the other Poteets as the road was way to muddy today. Maybe next trip.

Found a few more type-0 which I won’t mention but none that really matter. Signed" Ms. Type-O.

Gosh, I should have proof read before posting. The Kelly rigs they are fracking were closest to highway 76 not 75. Also should have said we “could not” see the rest of the Kelly wells from the highway.

Thanks Linda, hopefully #1 will be back in business soon. I’m thinking the others should be pretty close to production.

I don’t know where the news is getting it’s information but tonight they said on TV that gasoline prices are going up faster than they have since 2013 and are blaming the rising prices of oil. Checking the price of oil about everyday and I’m not seeing it going up for the last SEVERAL days!

K Dawn,

Temporarily abandoned means that they will not produce a well in the near future. They put plugs in it to make it safe, but it means they may come back to it later to produce a different horizon or use it as an injector well or something like that. They can keep it that way for years.

Don, Pooling: “Matter continued IHC scheduled 4/20/15”, Spacing: “Matter recommended 2/11/15”.

Hutch: Thanks for the info. The half inch high stack of paper sent to me by Jackfork on this matter must have cost them $40 or $50 to each of the 335 mineral interest owners which results into $13,400 to $16,750. Hope this is a great gas well and Continental can help keep the US Post Office in the black and still have enough to drill a well.

Sorry, the wells on the north side of Stephens Co. line were “East” not “West” of highway 76.

Linda,

Gas is going up because of the rising price of BRENT oil. So technically they were right but unfortunately it’s not oil that benefits any of us.

Is anyone aware of the results of the pooling hearing for Stephens Co. sec7-1N-5W? It is CD #201406970 that was to be heard, on Jan. 11,12, and/or 13, 2015, by the administrative law judge. Continental Resources filed the original pooling application back around July 2014, amended it on Sept. 17, 2014, and again on Dec 22, 2014. They filed for a spacing change hearing on Jan. 12, 2015, to be held on this same date with a new CD #201406969. Our name was listed on “Exhibit-A”. Each copy of the pooling and spacing change was accompanied by an offer to lease from Jackfork Land on behalf of Continental Resources at what seems to me to be a very low interest. As an example they offered $1,600 bonus for 3/16 mineral interest. I have received (from what might be bottom feeders) for up to $4,000 bonus for 3/16. Jackfork, on a rare December telephone conversation, said that they could offer $500 bonus at ¼ interest and promised to send an offer letter at that rate. Alas, that was the last I heard of that offer. My minerals are currently not leased as of Oct. 2014 and I intend to wait for the pooling and hope that ¼ interest is available.

In the offer letter with a copy of the pooling application attached Jackfork states that they propose to drill a well named TBD 1-7H to “test the Woodford”. I don’t know how to search out the pooling decision on the Internet and I assume that there is a time period for picking a leasing option on the pooling options offered.

I am hoping one of you nice people can help me out as Jackfork takes from weeks to months to reply to phone calls, if at all.

Linda R. would you ask your husband what is meant when they shut down a well for two days because of a down-hole wind temperature is high. This is not a well in Stephens County. Thanks Richard

Generally speaking, oil-producing, geologic formations are named for towns located near where the formation reaches the surface. The Woodford shale is forced to the surface by the Arbuckle Mountains near Woodford, Ok, just northwest of Ardmore. There is a USGS sign on highway 77 north of Ardmore about the formation. You can pick up a piece of the rock off the ground there and see what Woodford shale looks like. I have a piece in my home.

I found out through the unclaimed property division that I had inherited interest through Chesapeake section 17 2N 7W. After proving that this was my fathers (deceased) and mothers also (deceased) they transferred it over to me and my siblings and sent me a division order to sign. I just mailed it off yesterday they won’t tell me the amount, Lots of #'s that I don’t understand. I was wondering if they are still producing or am I to late especially since the oilfield folded under? it says the effective date is july 2011 will I get any back pay? I don’t know anything about this and I’m trying to self educate myself any feed back would be appreciated.

Debbie, they not only owe you for any royalties dating back to the effective date , but they owe you a statutory interest of 12% as well. When you do get a check make sure to check the statement. If you are not sure if the interest was included you may have to request it in writing. I hope this helped.

Thanks anyway Jennifer, I guess I just need to be patient and see what my first statement says lol

Richard…sorry for the delay. My internet wasn’t working last night when I tried to answer your question. My husband said he hadn’t heard of such a thing as “down hole WIND temperature”. Are you sure you didn’t misunderstand what someone said about that? He said there is sometimes hot temperatures underground but it’s not something they would shut down the well or rig for. Sorry we couldn’t help.
