Yes JW and that is in Hockley County, not Terry County. Just go on to the Texas RR GIS Viewer and look at all the green spots on the map in Hockley County. Them thar are producing wells. Now go to the same map and look at Terry and Lynn counties and compare to Hockley. Hockley has a huge number of producing wells. In Terry and Lynn, mostly blue circles with two dashes outside…aka dry hole.
Does anyone have any reliable information about Haliburton building something close to the rail lines , a fracking plant if thats the right word ?
When oil companies pack up and leave town Craig because they have found better opportunities elsewhere, we call the “leaving behind of investments” tax write offs or investment losses. Happens all the time. Its nothing new. I’m just sorry that it is happening here in West Texas.
Just across the line in Hockley County, I am aware of one particular new horizontal well that has been drilled and has been sitting idle next to my farm for quite a while. Just to casually look at it, you would think the oil company had left the state. And yet, that same oil company continues to expand its area and sign new leases and record them in the courthouse. You could make whatever casual observation you choose about an idle well with no equipment around it, but somebody may know something that most people don’t have any access to. Time will tell.
Hi dubose…I sure hope that you are correct and that my sources are incorrect. I like your forecast much more than what my sources have said.
Last i heard was that Haliburton was looking at four locations, one in Levelland, two around Lubbock and one in Brownfield. It is a locaiton that they will be able to bring frac sand via rail, off load and fill loading hoppers for trucks. Nothing has happened yet. No site has been offically selected as of last week.
It takes all info Plus and minus to get the closest we can guess about what is about to happen please keep it all coming I understand the negativity it is really hard to be positive most of the time.positive is more fun I really think that the cline shale will be just that as a whole it just may connect all of the oil fields from odessa to far west New Mexico to pampa texas north. lots of money for many none for others. lets all watch Raw oil new Permit on sec 39 mound lake just in the edge of terry if it is good it will be on line sooner than some other co. if they hold true to there past performance.
Sorry dubose but from what RHH just reported, it looks like my sources were correct about Terry County being a bust and companies moving on to other places…darn it…
Not the news we have been hoping for from W&T. This is from their most release from Feb 26, 2013…
In Terry County we completed two horizontal wells including the State Travis Henson Unit #1H and the Holmes 23-4 Unit #1 H during the fourth quarter. Based on a review of all of our well results in Terry County and full cycle economics, we have decided not to pursue additional development of the area at this time.

when you look at the lease. dates of wtofshore there leases no not renew until mid 2014 so not at this time only means not at this time. maybe they wont to lease more.
my info on the wtofshore stuff was last week wheni was told that they had not got all frack water back but they seem to be happy what water and oil that they were getting maybe soon they will have the frack water back and then they will start getting info that is what production can be it just takes more money more time and more patience today to complete a well than 20 years ago.
they is two rigs drilling in north east terry and another talk of third location soon.
if you want to see what is coming in permits numbers use the W1search on ttc site use only the submitted date (0nly) with or without county to see how many permits are being applied for average is about 125 per day 5 days a week it well let you see where the oil companies are working the submitted side gives you about three to four days before the approved side.
rrc not ttc
Still getting lease offers in Terry and new permits being filed so I don’t think is over. Maybe some parts are not as productive or they have to further evaluate their methods for getting the oil out of there. One completion record on the RRC site if correct showed over 100 barrels of oil and 3000 mcf of gas in their 24 test. Never know though.
My thought is that there are a lot of leases signed in that area and money spent to just walk away .I think there is still lot of drilling to do think just give it time.
This link is a bit of old news, but I am posting for all the naysayers of the Terry oil production. Construction is in full scale mode as of this past Monday! This will make the transportation of oil from the producing wells cheaper.

According to Brownfield newspaper dated February 09, 2013:
Mercuria Energy Trading, Inc., the world’s fourth largest commodities trader has purchased acreage adjacent to the railroad tracks north of the Main Street crossing. Construction at the local site would begin February 18 and will spend about 40 days readying the site, with plans to be fully operational by April 1st.
They will erect about a dozen large storage tanks on the site to be serviced by between 40 and 50 trucks per day, seven days a week. Buying crude directly from the leases and trucking it back to tank location in Brownfield, then be transfer onto railcars and shipped out to varying destinations. About a dozen rail cars per day will move the oil out of the facility.
The company, within the last year, started its own fleet of trailers to transport its oil supply, rather than outsourcing that task. Mercuria has several crude oil sale points across the U.S. with the closest in Cushing, Oklahoma, which has a storage capacity of 2.5 million barrels of oil.
The revitalization of the area’s oil fields has been a hot topic of conversation for more than two years, since land men started swarming local title records. But the excitement of what it could mean for the local economy has been tinged with impatience as locals anticipate the arrival of new businesses and the jobs that follow.
The available land on the rail was a leading factor in choosing Brownfield as well as the city’s vicinity to the area’s booming oil play.
According to Brownfield newspaper dated February 02, 2013
Spenko Solutions currently is renovating a 70 year old building adjacent to the railroad tracks near Powell and Seventh streets.
The company produces fracking fluid used by oil companies to drill new wells, could employ as many as 40 people when fully operational.
They produce guar-based slurry that is completely environmentally friendly. It’s a non-hazmat product with no environmental concerns. The presence of West Texas Guar in Brownfield lured Spenko to the city.
It is projected that this facility will produce one million gallons of this fluid per month. This is enough to frack about 50 wells. Spenko spokesman predicts that in 24 months, there will be some major oil play within a 100 mile radius and Brownfield is right in the middle of that.
