My mother is Elaine Simper. We are pooled into the Pavlicek 1H. Pavileck 2H and 5H are already permited as I mentioned. She is retired so she has a lot of time on her hands and my aunt works at the local famers COOP so she hears a lot of the local scuttlebut so to speak. Yeah even a disappointing well like our 1H is still giving us good mailbox money. If the next two do what all the rest in the area are doing then it will be a very nice christmas this year. With all the drilling there are a lot of farmers doing very well. Pun intended
Yes, the farmers are growing corn along side the oil wells!!!!
Hi, can someone talk to me about the Martinsen Unit? I saw a completion report on it and now another permit has come up on the TRRC site as Martinsen 1H. Thanks much.
is there a site that shows a map of all the drilled wells and all the permitted ones? if so, how do i go about accessing the site. thanks
Miles, Is it moving to the Vana Scharel combo well. That is a 1500 acre pool. Pavliced was to be in line after that one.
Do you know the other drill that it is going to be drilled after Schacerl/Vana
Amen Miles.
Not sure how many rigs PV has for Lavaca County but as of today one of the rigs just went up on the Effenberger/Schacherl pad.
Amen to that Miles. We are closer to the Gonzales/Lavaca County line and I don't know much about the future drills of the wells you mentioned above but according to 'hearsay' after this shared unit of Effenberger/Schacherl is drilled in this area they will then begin with Effenberger #4 and #5 which will be drilled at or close by the Effenberger #1 well - activity has already begun in preparation for those drills. Only information on RRC I find is that all these drills are approved including those you mention. The Eagle Ford has really been a blessing to all.
Was out at the farm this weekend. Lights everywhere. Fracking lights on Vana well and two drill rigs I can see from the top of the hill.
They need to send one of those rigs our way!!!
Yeah that's pretty strange and I saw the same thing. Usually, an amended plat such as the one attached to that new filing for the Martinsen #1H is attached to the completion when it's filed. It just shows the amended plat and all the stages of the fracs/producing intervals. I think it was probably a mistake that they filed it as an amended permit honestly since that well has already been drilled.

PVA drills many pilot/test vertical holes on some of their "outlier" wells to determine exact depths of target formations prior to pulling back up and kicking off the horizontal portion of the drill. This is probably just an amended permit to properly document that vertical pilot/test hole.
Yes, but this is a horizontal well not vertical. Unless they are going to drill a vertical well right next to it.

Thanks Chad for the clarification as that certainly makes sense of Laura's concern regarding the Martinson unit. Will have to put that one into memory for future reference.

In all likelihood, this permit is being amended for the vertical pilot hold that was likely drilled when the rig first showed up to drill the Martinsen #1H. They aren't likely coming back to drill a vertical well now, rather it was just filed to properly document that original vertical pilot hole. To my knowledge, operators do thisto get a better idea on a kickoff depth for the horizontal leg of the drill.
Just a quick note to let everyone know that completion reports were finally filed in recent days for the PVA operated Netardus, Hinze and Douglas Raab Units. The Netardus and Hinze were both very consistent with IPs around 750 barrels/day and good gas pressure it appears...which is a good thing. Douglas Raab IP'd over 900 barrels/day. I think these are great results for the area given this is further east/southeast and likely in thinner shale than any of the other PVA wells in the area.
I don't have too much to offer on the length of time for a frac job as it relates to thickness of shale. All I know is that the shale in that area is generally much thinner than further west. That definitely slows drilling a bit as they have to be more careful to stay in the shale, but I'm not sure how it effects the frac timeline. Like anything else when you're working with that many variables, things don't always go as planned and things break which obviously slows things down. Maybe they just had an optimal frac which really shouldn't take more than a few days. Do you know how long they were there?
As far as rumors about returning to the pad to drill more wells, that are definitely valid rumors (in my opinion) as they aren't creating these units for one well or building pads for one well any longer. They are going with 2-3 well pads to save costs and yes, they will come back and put more wells on your unit...it's just a matter of when. So far, they've been going back and backfilling the units they first drilled in Lavaca county (Effenberger, Schacherl, Vana, etc) That may mean it will be a while before more wells are drilled there and it may not...who knows. What I do know is there is easily room for 3 and quite possibly 4 wells solely on the Joseph Simper Unit and PVA certainly draws these plats up with concrete plans on how many wells they're putting on each unit. That's evidenced clearly in your unit as they went almost exactly 1000 feet east/northeast of the surface location before kicking the horizontal portion off to the southeast. They will space these things 450-500 feet apart so I would expect another well directly sourtheast from the current surface location, then another in between that and the #1H. Then there's plenty of room for yet another halfway between the western unit line and the surface location. Anyway, I would guess 4 eventually (3 additional) with possibility of sharing wells as well. Shoot me a private message if you want to talk about anything real specific or if you want any more thoughts on IP results when they come in. I'm considering consulting in the area due to the number of people that are completely new to this industry and have no idea what to expect moving forward. I can help with all types of questions ranging from IPs on completion reports to monthly royalty estimations based on early production reports. Have a good 4th.
Chad is correct the first well is drilled and backfilling is always in the future. Penn Va is supposed to be doing 70 acre well spacing. But know the combo such a Schrael/Vana which is crossing pools has definetly changed some things. For example the Pavlicek wells are numbered 1H, 2H and 5H. So if they fill in the other two through the 5H they would be close to done on that pool. However if they start crossing pools all owned by Penn Va who knows. Was told two more holding tanks were added to the Pavlicek well yesterday.
Happy 4th all
Miles,
Yes new permins will be filed for additional holes. It took PVA almost a year to come back and permit the two additional holes on the Pavlicek well.
Just wonderful!! I hope it doesn't take that long for them to do something on our property.
