Yoakum County, TX - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

I see permits over the last year from Oxxy in sections 762, 763, 764, and 765. Does anyone know if there been any rigs in this area?

Can anyone tell me if they know anything about VISION MINERALS, LLC , Operator No.: 886206, They are supposed to be the operator for some wells we have in Yoakum county but production reports show production fell off in 2010 and none since 2011. I have tried to call them and only get a answering machine.

Michael Patterson-

Please give me a call. I have some information for you.

I posted a new blog article that you all may want to refer newbies to who post "what do I do now" type questions. See,

We have leases on parts of Sections 692 and 807 in Yoakum County which are expiring this year. Trail Mt. has offered extensions on the same terms but we have declined. Is anyone aware of others who might be interested in these areas?

M family and I have just discovered that we have some mineral rights in Section 538 and want to get an idea of what a good price per acre and royalties are in that area. Any help anyone can give would be appreciated.

Thanks...........Chris

I was interested in Anne W.'s post because my family also has been leasing mineral rights in section 692 to Trail Mountain. We also declined the renewal terms offered this spring, which was 3/16 royalty and $100 per nma, and TM rejected our counter offer. I too would like to know what other companies are leasing in the area. Also, my family has held an interest in these rights since 1938, and they have been leased for much of that time, but it seems that no company has drilled there. Does anyone know enough about the geology to explain why the oil companies keep leasing the rights even though section 692 is on the edge of the oil field and no one has ever chosen to drill?

Shandon,

Our lease agreement with Trail Mountain mirrors yours with regards to royalty and bonus but we haven't been contacted by them yet. Our contract ended on 8-20-13. We're a short distance from you in section 629 which is almost rock throwing distance to the edge of the oil field. I too am hoping we hear from someone with geological knowledge of the area. Best of luck to you and Anne W.

RE: Trail Mountain leases

Their landman contacted me in May about our lease that was expiring in July - wanting to renew it at same low 2008 terms! I turned it down, then asked him about their drilling results in Terry Co. He said they'd been disappointed in the results of their wells and others'. They'd pay the old rates to renew expiring leases, but "the high price, the short lease term and high royalty frenzy has passed our willingness."

I'm guessing the attitude is shared for both Terry and Yoakum counties. We have another lease in Yoakum Co. with them expiring in Nov., so it will be interesting to see if anything changes.

Fred, don't forget to request a "Release of Lease" from them, then get it recorded in the Yoakum Co. courthouse so others will know your property is available...and it makes for a cleaner title trail.

Paige,

Thank you for that bit of information on the release of lease. Very helpful.

I have just called Trail Mountain in regard to the "Lease Release" for my expired leases in 692 and 807. Apparently the land man I had talked with previously is no longer there...but his replacement is supposedly checking. Just wondered if anyone has had recent contact on the above sections???

Re: Completion Reports on RRC website - timeline

According to interview with RR Cmsnr. Christi Craddick about upgrading the RRC website and IT systems (March issue of PB Oil & Gas magazine - http://read.uberflip.com/i/265837), on pg. 72 she said that this year they are 11,000 reports (or 4 months) behind, as opposed to 2013 when they were 14,000 reports (6 months) behind. Online filing of reports and new systems should improve the backlog dramatically.

By the way, it's a free subscription, and I read it cover-to-cover each month - lots to learn! PB Oil & Gas Magazine

Hi.I'm trying to get info on the E/2 of SE/4 of Sec.809 in Block D, Yoakum Co. Tx.which was acquired by F.E.Franklin from John D.Hager and wife on March 20, 1953. Where do I find the "latest activity?" I look on the discussion forum and

under the comment wall but don't find anything newer than June 13.

What am I missing?

Ann,

I have had carpal tunnel surgery and elbow surgery and have not been posting drilling permits, etc. for a few days. Give me time to heal and get these stitches and staples out and I will be back.

Clint,

Always appreciate your posts...and hope your recovery goes smoothly.

The problems I have is that when I go into the YC site, I usually find some "latest activity" is several hours or several days old. However, I

can't find where it is listed??!!

Ann,

This is where I get a lot of my information:

Just received lease offer for S/2 Sec. 788, Blk. D, Abst. 1550 from DSD Energy Resources, LLC out of Lewisville. $200/acre and 1/5 Royalty, 3 yr term with 2 yr option. Curious of other offers out there in the SW corner of Yoakum County.
