OCC issued a permit to drill to Marathon in Sec 12 1S 5W on November 15. It has been a little less than a month, but I was wondering if anyone had heard anything or seen any sign of activity on the site.
Best this amateur can read the permit, they are going down 11639 feet, turning and heading due north 5169 feet for a total measured depth of 17056. That seems like a heck of a hole to me.
Any insight or thoughts would be appreciated.
Paul
According to OCC, it has not spud yet. Woodford horizontal well.
checking to see if any activity from Marathon in section 8 t3s r4w in last 2 month
Nothing by Marathon or pretty much anyone else either. Quiet section 8-3S-4W.
Paul...That's about par for the depth of the horizonals in that area. In 2n 4w on most horizonals they are going down about 14,000 or 15,000 ft. to the Woodford and making the turn and total after adding the lateral is from 19,000 to 20,000 ft. or even longer if they go through 2 sections. They have even been longer if they start in part of one section and go through part of it and then two more sections. The wells are costing around 10 mil. or more to drill and they are sometimes drilling several before fracing any of them and fracing them all at the same time! They also are setting the tanks before they even get through drilling!!! So you know they know what is down there before they do all of that. That's the majors I am talking about. That 3 D Siesmagraphing is amazing, I guess!!! Continental said in one of their conferences that they had known for a long time that it was down there but it was so deep and with the prices of oil so low it just wasn't feasible to go after. Now it is! Praise the Lord!!!
