We have received two different permit requests for 3-D Seismic Surveys. The offers are for $16 and $20 per acre. Property is Reeves County Block 50 & Block 49. I did a quick search and did not see this being discussed.
Our property is Mineral Classified and I'm trying to figure out if I have to pay the State?
I don’t believe so. The companies are offering you $16 - $20 per acre to access the surface. I believe the money goes to the surface owner only.
$20 is the going rate, that's what we got (and not really much wiggle room, my husband worked in seismic and tried getting more.) The money is for surface rights. You may be on the hook for the usual taxes but that would be it.
We have mineral classified land also and are in the process of Seismic Survey. Our attorney is handling this … we also questioned the State getting half. They called Drew Reid with The General Land Office and he said yes, the State gets half.
