I own a small interest in A-26 in Brazos County. My interest had been leased for several years up until a couple of years ago . The RCC map has been showing several wells are permitted from one drilling site in A-26 for many years now. I was told back in 2014, those sites included my lease. But to my understanding nothing has ever happened with these sites. I received several low ball offers to buy my interest a couple of years ago. But this is the only activity I have seen in a while. It is so quiet, almost too quiet, given the current conditions and prices. I did receive oil and gas royalties for a well drilled back in the '90s. But that straight hole quickly dried up and was abandoned. To my understanding that hole was into the Austin Chalk, and the interest in this area now is the Eagle Ford Shale and Woodbine. I have been told generally investors haven’t been too interested in drilling for some time now. But that may be changing with prices reaching such highs. What is it going to take for investors to get activity going again in this region? And what insight can any one give into these previously permitted wells, like how long are permits good, and when do they fall off the RCC map, if ever.
