AFE Goes To Old Address

I inherited some WI in a family company.In 2010,an AFE for a McKenzie County Well went to an old company address.There was no response so the company was dinged with a 300% penalty.

I now know there was no current statement of claim or corporate address change on file with the county clerk.The operator took the address off an old assignment.There was negligence on the part of the officers to keep things up to date.

Can anything be done to reverse this??

Gene, you say a family company? Does the company own the acres? Or does the company "own" the right to produce because the company holds a lease of the acres?

You are sunk. I was hoping the company owned the minerals and the penalty would be only 50% of actual cost of drilling and completing.
