Affadavit of Heirship

Hi, I am representing my family regarding the inheritance of nonparticipating mineral rights in Reeves County. When I spoke with the clerk's office, they told me that they cannot tell me what I need to file. Instead, I am to file and they will let me know if it is unacceptable. Can anyone tell me here, or by friending me and sending a message if you prefer, what they require in this county? From my research, it looks like one or two affadavits of heirship when there is not a probated will. I'm hoping to hear from an attorney or someone who has gone through the process in Reeves County. Thank you so much.

I have had good luck working with Wade Caldwell, member of this group.

if you'd like I can email you an Affidavit of Heirship. It's fairly self explanatory, but I'd be glad to answer any questions you may have.

You will need to have 2 disinterested parties execute the Affidavit. It could be a family friend or cousin. Someone that has nothing to gain from the Estate.

If your family history is complicated, such as numerous heirs of the original owner being deceased, and having died intestate as well...it may be beneficial to work with an attorney to ensure it is prepared correctly the first time.

Thank you, Mike.
