I own a small amount of mineral rights in 32-2N-6W. Does anybody know of proposed drilling in this area?
I have a second question. I have been approached by Bearcat for a lease. I wanted to shop around a little and got ideas from this website about other agents. I contacted R.D. Williams and they are not interested, then Bluestar Land and they "will call if interested" (but haven't so far), and also Chesapeake. I had a lease with Chesapeake at one time but it expired and they declined to renew it when I called the other day. Are there any other agents I might talk to?
Final question: if a person is force pooled, does that mean you automatically give up your surface rights? In other words, under a forced pool, is the drilling company free to come onto your place to set up tanks, structures, roads, or whatever they want?
Terrie,
There are no applications pending with the Oklahoma Corp. Commission for any sections in 2N/6W. Bearcat has been doing a lot of leasing since April but so far no leases have been assigned to any operators. So unless you just need the money, waiting might be you best option until some moves are made to start drilling.
I'm sure you can get a more educated answer about surface rights but I will say that the Forced Pooling would only apply to the minerals and the surface is a separate matter and you will be compensated for damages to the surface and the use of any of your resources, water etc.
Hi Michael, and thanks for your reply. It was very helpful to me! I will take your advice and not rush into anything.
