Application process with the Oklahoma Corporation Commission

Continuing the discussion from Just got an offer:

Can someone explain the complete Application process the oil exploration companies have to file with the Oklahoma Corporation Commission? in order to drill a oil & gas well. Or maybe a good web site with that shows the process. Thanks.

In general,

1- the operator will file for a spacing order for the reservoir of interest (if it has not already been done in previous years).

2- file for the type of well-vertical or horizontal

3- file for location exception if the well will be placed in a different location than the statutory location in a spacing unit.

4- file for forced pooling to capture all those mineral owners that cannot be found or have not chosen to lease

5-Then the permit will be filed which gives a time frame in which to drill.

6- If there has already been an initial well and they plan to drill more, then they will file for an increased density order, then more wells and location exceptions.
