Appraisal District Notices re: Agricultural Use Valuation

Anyone around here own surface in addition to minerals and have agricultural use valuation? My family leases some of our land to a man who runs cattle.

We just got notices from the Appraisal District stating that their records show we receive agricultural use valuation on some of our land and that we have to file an application to retain the agricultural use valuation. Just curious to know if anyone knows much about agricultural use valuation and has any thoughts or comments.

What's frustrating is over the past few years a few relatives have died and the other relatives contributed their land to an LLC and yet tax bills and other information from the County still go to the old owners (sometimes deceased) at old addresses despite countless times over several years sending the appraisal district information about the actual current owners and requesting that they update their records. Luckily, a couple of the addresses actually haven't changed so we did get a few of these agricultural use notices (and it takes a lot of effort each year to make sure we pay all the property taxes we owe since we're never sure if we get all of them in the mail; I have to keep a spreadsheet each year that I can compare to previous years to make sure we aren't missing any tax bills)

My family also received the agricultural use valuation form. Our extended family did have a person handling all this (another family member) for the last several years, but they are not taking care of this any longer. We are trying to get a copy of the form she originally filled out for agricultural use valuation along with other documents.

Could you give me the name/contact information of your man who runs cattle? I remember her saying someone drives cattle across our land, and could use a local contact. Thanks.

I don't know the gent's name off the top of my head but I could look it up, and I might have an address (but probably not a phone #). Do you have any land in or around Block 1/Block 13/Block 52 T-8? Maybe our guy is the same person who runs cattle on your land.
