Approached to sell

My aunt and my mother has been approached by Panther Minerals to buy their shares on the Morton 2-18 well located on 18-15N-18W. They really don’t know if they should sell because they don’t understand anything about the well. Their shares were inherited from their parents. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

If they do not really need to sell the well, then I would suggest slowing down and see what happens. There are horizontal well nearby that produce more than the current well. Usually buyers know more about what is about to happen and intend to make a profit off their purchases. Mewbourne and Notting Hill Energy are woking on horizontal wells nearby, so something might move their way in the future.

Ok, thank you very much. My gut feeling was not to sell. Do you know where I can get more information on the well itself so I can better explain to them what they have?

The Oklahoma Corporation commission has production information on the OK Tax Site. https://oktap.tax.ok.gov/oktap/web/_/#1

The well has very low production now since it is old. But the new drilling nearby could by much better

This is the way to look up the permit and other info on the well.

Do you know what their montly income is from the well(s), how many net acres and the offer amount, thats the biggest thing you have to look at and then turn your attention to the development of the area before making an informed decision. There are several active older wells in the section, all of them well past their “prime” production windows. Theres nothing filed of record for any future development on your section. That area is a bit outside the zone, Mewbourne filed a location Exception in August of 2023, it was the 1st activity in all of 15N-18W since 2015 and there havent been any filings since that one in 2023.

This is the most current link to look up permits. The previously mentioned link has not been updated with records since 2022.

How do I access the OK tax site? Looks to me like I would need to be in a business that collects sales tax.
