How do I find out if the gas rights are leased on a property I just acquired?
My father passed away and I know he had some of his properties gas rights leased but I’m not sure to who. Or if the lease has expired. I am trying to contact 3 different companies that I know he used at one point. But after some sold out his lease to others I’m at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You’re not giving us much to work with here, such as county, state, etc. However, as a general rule, all oil and gas leases are recorded. If you go online to that county, or call the county clerk, you might find a copy of the most recent lease executed by your father. Further, about every state has a website where you can look up whether a well has been drilled on the property. typically, those sites also tell you who the present operator is of the well.
