Does anyone know who this Calvin Energy Company is? They have given us a low-ball offer on our section 28-5N-7W.
Hello,
We recently received an offer from Calvin (through Tucker Oil Properties) on Sec 8-T4N-R7W. Valerie, what do you consider a "low-ball" range?

Valerie, We also have received an offer from Calvin Energy for our interest in Sec 7 and 18 T 4N- 7W. The letter shows an address in Norman OK. I have not accepted it.
Hi, Olvis,
Thanks for your response. Ours is $300 for 5 years, 3/16. We haven't accepted either. The mineral rights were my father's, and now they've passed to us. From his records, it looks like most of his leases have been 3 years for some time. We're trying to get up to speed on what's going on in the various properties. It's a whole new lingo!
Hey guys, I am new to this group, but joined because I received an offer from Calvin Energy for Sec 36-6N-8W. The offer was $225 plus 3/16 for 5 years, which is pretty low compared to the going rate in Texas. I have not accepted and do not think I will at this low rate. Any further ideas/discussion would be much welcomed.
Hi Patricia, I am also new to the forum and new to mineral ownership but have done some research on my interest in Sec 8-6n-8w and this is what I have found. My section has a well that was drilled in the early 80's by Unit Petro. and was plugged in 2000. In 2007 Continental leased it for $200 3/16 for 3 years. Currently I have 2 offers on it but I can't accept them until we are finished with probate. Offer one came in November 2011 from Unit Petro. for $400 3/16 for 3years w/ 2 additional year option. The second one came a couple weeks ago from Calvin for $500 3/16 for 3 years w/ 2 year option. When time comes I will probably use the Calvin offer to try to get Unit to pay a little more. The offers given just to the east of us are somewhat higher, $1,000-$1,300.
Well, I sent Calvin Energy a fax telling them I thought their offer was too low, and so far I have heard nothing back from them. Guess if they really want to lease it they will contact me again.
In Sec. 31 and 32 of 6N-7W I got Calvin energy to go up to $350/acre but they still want to tack on a 2 year option onto the 3 year lease. When I talked with them on the phone the landman wanted to know what "my problem" was when I disagreed with the original offer. Has anyone gone ahead and signed a lease with these people and actually received a check from them?
These posts were a long time ago …but I too now have an offer from Calvin and can’t find out much about them. How did it turn out for any of you?
Charles, just posted a message to you on the forum. But just another note. My aunt held out much longer because she wasn't in a hurry to sign and she finally got them up to a 1/5%. I also finally got them to drop the 2 year option. From my experience, I think waiting is in your favor, nothing good comes from rushing into it. Also, if you have relatives that they are also trying to lease from, come together as a group and that gives you more bargaining power. That's what we did. I represented 7 different people and thus the landman only had to deal with one person and not seven. Just send me a friend request if you have any more questions that I can help you with.
