My 91 year old mother has royalty interests in 640 acres in Payne County that was inherited from her mother. I've been trying to get up to speed to help her make her claims but I know nothing about gas/oil/mineral rights. She received letters in October 2013 that included 1099's and banking info needed forms to start receiving money. She just gave me the letter last week to check out. There is also a first cousin of hers that received letters to buy his share of interests. I have told him to wait until I could find out more.
Mom doesn't want to sell her rights as some of the others in her family have and are out of the picture now. Could someone please direct me to a place to start? Would actually calling the company that sent the letter make a difference or do we need to get an attorney involved?
Rory D Newbrey, Did you mother sign an oil and gas lease? The surface location of the Schroeder is in Sec 34-19N-03E, but there was a horizontal lateral into Sec 4-18N-03E, so Devon Energy should have leased your mom's minerals in Sec 4-18N-03E. First production from the Schroeder started May 23, 2013
That's interesting. I just talked to her and she doesn't remember signing anything, but she just got me involved in this recently. It's entirely possible she did and forgot or just plain didn't know what she signed. She joined the registry a few years back and let it lapse. I got her signed back up last week.
Thank you Ron! I did call Mom again and asked about her signing something in 2010 and she said yes she signed something but wasn't sure what she signed. I wouldn't have begin to know where to start.
It looks like the well you are under was completed on Aug 28 2013 and came on at 68 BO/D. It shows that your mom is under an 80 acre tract, 640 acres is the size of your unit.
