Comstock’s first well in the developing LowerBossier/Haynesville play in Robertson and Leon Counties has proved to be a “gusher” in terms of natural gas production. Here are the monthly production figures so far:
4/2022: 364,027 MCF (14 days)
5/2022: 922,044
6/2022: 860,637
7/2022: 917,901
8/2022: 876,040
9/2022: 866,324
10/2022: 9,444 (shut in while Cazey Black A being frac’d)
11/2022: 765,624
12/2022: 897,632
1/2023: 659,888
2/2023: 564,271
3/2023: 474,212
4/2023: 105,816 (wonder what caused the four-month decline?)
5/2023: 672,495
6/2023: 879,398
440 Day Total: 9,835,753 (22,354 MCF/Day)
6/2023 production is bigger than 6/2022
Based on production to date, EUR is expected to be north of 50 BCF, maybe reaching 70 BCF.
My property butts up against this pool. In fact the pool for Circle M shows it actually overlaps slightly into my property as my survey says I own Firestation Rd. The road was cut out of my property years ago when the county road commissioner (my grandfather-in-law) originally put in the dirt road.
But I am really wondering what is going on with the adjacent well named Koda drilled by Aethon. My property is leased to Aethon and is in the Koda pool. Koda says it is shut-in on the RRC site. I have called Aethon and all they will tell me is they are still working on it but I have no idea what is going on with it or how long it will remain shut-in. They are calling these wells “screamer wells” as the pipes make a screaming sound due to the high volume and pressure of gas being produced. I have 150 acres that I have 50% of the minerals on with a lease signed at 1/5th in the pool for Koda.
I am hoping them shutting it in now for months has not damaged the well.
The Koda 1H went into production in early May. The 24-hour test was run on May 11, but Aethon failed to note the date of first production in their latest completion report (it shows January 28, which appears to be the date drilling was completed). Here’s the monthly production as reported so far:
May: 628,796 MCF
June: 622,464
July: 825,422
Here’s the first three full months’ production for Comstock’s Circle M well:
May 2022: 922,044 MCF
June: 860,637
July: 917,901
No way to know what choke settings each company is using on their wells.
