Does it 'mean' anything when an oil company changes the name of a confidential well? And is there any time frame for how long a confidential well stays confidential? Thanks!
I’m reasonably sure the time duration of Confidential is 6 months. I have a well that went confidential in February, and comes off in August.
I got this from the dmr.nd.gov website:
"The six-month period shall commence on the date the well is completed or the date the written request is received, whichever is earlier."
So I suppose they can be on confidential forever - until it is 'completed'? If they are not doing anything with it... (I guess that is logical.) But I was more curious of the name change - wondering if they are going to be coming off soon since they changed the names recently?!
It has not changed in status - since I have been watching it they have been confidential... I just noticed that the name of the well just changed. (Maybe they changed the name when they renewed the confidential period?) Not sure, I was just more curious than anything of why the name changed. No biggy. Thanks guys!
SR, the dorthy and arnold have not been "spud", that is started drilling yet. The name change from Holm isn't really significant yet because they haven't started drilling and it probably never will be unless your name is Dorthy, Arnold or Holm. Congratulations on your six wells. The NDIC director thinks you have 18 to 42 more coming.
18 to 42 more coming on our sections?!
Oil Well, I guess we'll have to deal with that when it happens!! :)
Thank you,
Sheri
I know, terrible isn't it? If you have 30 minutes to spend you may look up "Lynn Helms EGC 2013" on Youtube.
RW - How did you find that the NDIC director thinks that we will have 18 to 42 more coming? (or is that in the Youtube video that I will have to take the time to watch!!)
SR, it's in the video. Like flattery I believe that such predictions should be greatly discounted, but if even half of the lower end prediction is true, we are in for quite a ride. Snues posted the link over in the Slope county forum.
