I inherited mineral interest as well as surface interest in Sections 13, 14, 15 and 7 in the PSL, Blk A56, Winkler County, Texas. Continental leased the lands among others in Blk. A56. They drilled the Jackrabbit this year in Section 13. After following the directions on the Division Order, I noticed they made an error. I corrected it, signed it and emailed a copy. They had not corrected the decimal on the first royalty check. I emailed the company and received a "ticket number, or place in line for help. It’s been almost 90 days without any response. This is for the Jackrabbit well, an allocation well in Sec. 13 and Sec. 8. I would like to get this resolved, with the funds owed, all the funds, before they repeat the errors on the soon to be drilled other allocation wells in Sections 10, 11, 12, 14 and 15, according to the plat I received. Is there a protocol to seriously get the problem corrected, or do I have to accept the situation?
send a letter certified mail. next have that letter send certified mail from an attorney.
The oil company will not change your DOI simply based on your changing the decimal on the division order. The revenue or ownership ‘deck’ for all royalty owners and working interest owners combined adds to 100% . Any single change or correction to one interest requires changes to one or more other interests so that the deck still totals 100%. You need to contact the division order department to explain that you think there is an error and compare your calculation to their calculation. Lots of reasons for a difference. It may be that the problem is with the drilling order title opinion and your ownership. Or it could be that either you or the division order analyst used an older completion plat rather than the final completion plat. Send a new email or perhaps a certified letter to get attention. In the future, do not sign a division order which has been issued with an erroneous DOI.
Thank you for the info and guidance.
I will try this. Thank you.
I also own an interest in Section 13. I signed an OGL a few years ago, but still haven’t received a DO. I checked the RRC website and it shows a permit was approved just this month (12/2024). I don’t think they’ve drilled yet.
My brothers & I noticed an error in our working interest % in CLR royalty payments
for a well in Garvin county. By comparing our payments with those of some cousins. It didn’t take long to discover that the bank that handled our father’s trust had made a simple copy error. CLR DO Division suggested we hire a Landman / Landwoman. We did. Excellent one in Lindsay!
It took almost a year, simply because there had been 3 buyouts/owner-turnovers of the original bank, & the current one, Citibank, needed to search their archives for the pertinent documents. In Dallas, region HQ for those docs.
Eventually, the % was corrected ( up 25% ), & CLR paid the past differences.
Took time & perserverance…
Has someone from Continental informed you that there are plans to drill additional wells in Blk A56?
The Jackrabbit lease well has been producing oil for several months. Search this site for “Jackrabbit”
Yes. It’s definitely the place to be.
The Jackrabbit started drilling in Feb. 2024. Division orders went out in September 2024. Not everyone gets paid at the same time. Everyone says to send certified letters to CLR to get a response, and best, a letter from an attorney.
Interesting…I guess I haven’t recovered a division order due to the complexity of the title. Any idea on if it’s a decent well?
The CONG website has the production available for May through November. Click on Lease Drop - Crude oil, drilling permit #895891 and the dates 2405 thru 2412 and submit.
Hi Mike, I have been looking for a long time for a landman/landwoman in the Lindsey/Chickasha area. Would you mind sharing the person you used and were happy with? This would be helpful for myself, two siblings, and several cousins. Thank you!
Darla Ragland, in Lindsay.
We also do, and we still have not either gotten a revised, Robert I Sewell Jr
