Division order question!

I recently received a request from a certain company needing me to complete a w-9 and sign division order for another plot of land that I have rights to. From my understanding, someone please correct me if I am wrong, once a division order has been received that means that a well is producing. However, I cannot find an API #. Nor can I find anything with the legal description given. Goodrich is a company that I have already dealt with for a well producing in another county, and they were very thorough with explaining specifics. This new company just kind of threw things at me like I’m supposed to know what it’s relating to. I like to keep up with production and what not. I am so lost! Can someone help me? Thanks!

Amanda,

It is generally true that D.O's arrive after production is established. Basically, it doesn't make much sense to go to the trouble/expense of preparing them until they're needed. That's the general thought pattern. In any particular case, there could be something different happening I suppose, but it's not the norm. You might inquire into the Operator via any means/contacts you've spoken with previously. Simply ask if there's production from whatever well name is described on the D.O.

Others can add to this but that's partial insight on this.
