Doddridge County, WV - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

Katrina,

I am like you, keeping a positive outlook toward the future and like your idea of holding onto what you have, for the long run.

I will say, I would be insulted by some of the offered prices to sell, if I was not laughing so hard. This week I was offered 250.00 / acre on 140 acres, in Ritchie County. Such a generous offer, but yet they were not interested in selling their holdings when I offered to buy their interest at 500.00 / acre.

My property for all my wells are Doddridge. Mcclean district and the unit is the TABAR or TABOR unit.

When we first signed with Antero in 2011, we had the lease in one hand and both my brother and I got a check for 21,000.00. so $42.000.00 as a sign on bonus. But this is another company wanting to buy this, but NO worries I am not selling for 200,000.00 I am in hopes 2018 they will start again. Because the one well OXFORD ONE from Nobel and Consol, last year starting in Nov. 2014 we each made like $140,000 in 8 months. So I would hate to sell something and then in a few years when they start fracking I would loose out. I know it can go the other way. but I am hoping fro the best. Noble and consol just drilled an 8 well pad on the Oxford 87 for us too, but Noble called us and said all the wells are dirlled but because of oil prices they are going to wait and frac them them in 2018. ( I HOPE) And if that other company is willing to give us that type of money and I get a letter at least every two weeks wanting to buy my royalities. Something tells me to keep them… I am not a fortune teller but I just try to keep thinking positive, now IF I were 70 years old yes it would sound very good and I would prob. sell. but I will just wait it out… and wait… LOL

Well, Well, Well, I received a D.O from Antero yesterday for the Amanda Well in Doddridge, it’s small 0.00019593, but you better believe that I will take it. I was told 4 months ago that I should receive the D.O. in Feb and it did happen, so folks ALL IS NOT LOST, hold your breath and it might happen.

Arnold, your post made me smile! I hope my long awaited DO shows up in the mail this week. The lady at Antero told me that she was working on a couple ahead of mine

Robin,

The number I have for Antero Resources in Colorado is: 303 357-7310. For matters regarding Division Orders, you typically need to leave a voicemail message and they will return your call within 3 days.

Best of luck

Jerry,

I suspect I know who you are speaking in reference to and strongly suggest any transaction with that person to be double, triple and quadruple checked. He has a nick name that he even refers to himself by, which is not complimentary.

Good Luck

Hi. Does anyone know how you find out about depreciation on royalty payments. Thanks

I need to contact Antero for an update regarding an update on any activity (permits, division orders, etc … if there is any). I understand that it’s best to contact the Colorado office. I didn’t have any luck when I tried some months ago. Would appreciate sharing of reliable contact names and phone numbers. Thanks so much!

Linda,

IRS allows for a flat 15% depreciation allowance on gross proceeds, from what I have read in their website. https://www.irs.gov/publications/p535/ch09.html

scroll down to royalty owners

Ditto on Jacqueline’s response. The same 15% depletion allowance also applies to sale of standing timber. I recently had an unsolicited offer from Clarence M to buy some of my mineral rights…I’m too embarrassed to mention how much…he is going to make me an offer for standing timber. I don’t hold much hope for that one. Does anyone know of timber crews that are buying timber in Doddridge? Jerry Yaremko

Charlene,

Thank you for the laugh, I literally laughed out loud. I have thought of doing the same thing to some of the various ‘offers’.

Yep, lot of sharks out circling the wagons. When things are down, people will try to buy up anything of value. Look what happened to the housing market in 08. Florida was very hard hit and lot’s and houses were bought up. There is a something be said about this mineral stuff. Don’t depend on it too much. Royalty checks this past year were cut as much as 75%. I hope they leave it in the ground for awhile.

lol I got an offer from Clarence also. I wrote HA HA HA VERY FUNNY in red ink across the page and mailed it back to him. If nothing the guy is funny.

Jerry, I know a lumberjack who works by himself. I’m not sure he’d work up in Doddridge County, as he’s based down here in Upshur County. If you want to get a second opinion he could probably help. PM me if you’d like to get in touch.

Kyle, so what you are saying is, once they sign you they don’t need you anymore? Sounds like a song. Lol

Kyle,

Unfortunately, it is a rarity that you are able to receive any of the documentation that defines the unit or who else makes up the unit. Most companies claim this is confidential information and it takes great effort to discover any of that information.

Cheers

Hello Ryan, My brother and I were giving a sign on bonus for Antero over 4 years ago in the amount of $42,000, just to sign the lease and so far NOTHING, so I know what you are meaning. I think with them giving that kind of money out that sometime they would do something. I think my lease is up because we signed a five year one. I think it is up in September of this year.

We received our first division order yesterday which included three wells. My question is when I look at the map where the wells are and where our parcel tracts are, they are in two different places. They are nearby to each other, but in fact there is a whole different set of wells that are between the parcels we signed our lease on and the wells we got our division order for. What is going on? Anybody know what I should do? Thanks in advance!

Katrina,

By chance, does the documentation you received, include any permit numbers? That would be useful information in reviewing the progress on your well.
