Doddridge County, WV - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

Katrina,

After a bit of research, I found a TABOR UNIT 2H has been permitted in Tyler County, which is not out of the realm if the parcels are on the Tyler / Doddridge line as you stated. The permit was issued on 05/19/2014 and the number is 095-02165. I found the attached information, which is dated 08/11/2015.

Best of luck!

Thanks for the reply, but I do believe I really have a problem. The horizontal lines from these three wells on my division order are not going through my tracts, and there are horizontal lines from other wells that are closer to my tracts (that are also not going through my tracts). There is no activity near my tracts at all. I am looking at the WVDEP Oil&Gas Well Information site and comparing it to the map I ordered from Doddridge co. that shows where my tracts are. I am good with maps, so I know I am not mistaken when I say that these three wells are not going through or near the tracts we signed about on our lease. However, one of the family names, “Ashcraft”, is on the list of leases pertaining to these wells - I know this from looking them up on the plat maps by searching for well API numbers here: http://downloads.wvgs.wvnet.edu/BatchInfo/doddridge/ - again, I love maps and this is a fun place to see how the leases are laid out under the well path as well as the surface owners. I either see one of two possibilities: either they sent us a d.o. by mistake or they sent us a d.o. without ever having us sign a lease. Any thoughts? Does this kind of thing happen? Thanks for any help, I appreciate it!

PS…

Thank you for sharing that link, it is wonderful to have the plat map information for my files.

Hi members of Doddridge county, I have been reading your blog since July,2014. because that was the time I signed with Antero, for 7 gas n oil leases. Many of you are very knowledgeable about the gas n oil industry. I have try as much as I can to educate my self on my own to what I have and have signed. But I am finding I am having some questions that maybe someone on here can help with, how does a (unit) work, and how can I tell how many are in my (unit), and how do I tell if any of my mineral right are in someone else’s 640 acre circle? I will greatly appreciate any feed back on these concerns. I have tried to contact Antero, but they are very, very busy!!! LOL I am just amazed at the amount of money that they have gave me and nothing, I mean they have never try to contact me once in over a year in a half. But I do under stand the market and the interstructure needs completed and don’t take me wrong I am very great full for the money $$$$$. Thanks Ryan

The company will put together a unit based on a lot of factors, including the geology of the formation that they are going to produce from, the leases they are able to get, and the geology on the surface. The unit is a combination of all the leases within a specific area. If they’re drilling to the Marcellus in Doddridge County the unit will usually be between 200 and 400 acres, and will be a rough rectangular shape (depending on the shape of the tracts on the edges of the unit) with the long edges running to the northwest and southeast. It runs northwest and southeast because the Marcellus shale has fractures running to the northeast and southwest, and crossing those fractures at 90 degrees takes advantage of those fractures for fracking purposes. The Marcellus is, essentially, naturally fracked to a small extent.

When you are unitized the company should send you out paperwork showing the sized and shape of the unit, and the other tracts in the unit will also be shown on the map. They will also list the other owners of the tracts in the unit.

If your tract is on the edge of a unit and overlaps into another unit, that will be shown on the map.

Once you’ve signed a lease with them its radio silence pretty much until they send you the unit declaration paperwork. I’d like to see them do a better job of keeping their lessors informed, but they have their trade secrets that they like to keep. I’m working on them, lease by lease.

Hi Kyle, thank you for the info, it has helped me greatly. It has given me the patience to continue the waiting game. It seems I will have a lot of my questions answered when it’s our turn to be drilled. Thanks for your help, Respectfully, Ryan

Here is what the logo looks like,

Katrina, Sorry about not looking further than Doddridge for the Tabar Wells, but thanks to WV Mineral Owner( he did), it just goes to show the more we have helping on our forum the better. I do have some leases that I Signed that stipulated one County, and when the well was permitted my Map & Partial was in another County, Close but still questionable.

Thank you, WV Mineral Owner. That’s helpful to know!

DT , yes it does feel that way, they gave me thousands of dollars, you would think every 6 months a 5 min phone call of “whats up”, !!! you know status, I would love to see a drill plan, a time frame, a who next, then next, then next, lol because I don’t see the secret, I don’t understand why you wouldn’t want to be transparent. its just good business.

I got my documentation about two years ago on the Units and what they were going to drill, It was like a graphed map and showed each well and how deep they plan to be and if there was any overlapping. BUT still nothing, the UNIT that I am to have is call the Tabar or Banner Unit and drilled in Doddridge County near Tyler County line and they are drilling all around it from what I am told but as of now nothing and it has been about 4 1/2 years.

Sure thing. I probably got it from Nancy long ago, as well as the other links! I suppose I will call Denver and see what they can tell me. When I get it sorted out I will let you all know.

What happens, and how long does it take, after you sign a Division Order?

I have seen one on the Doddridge Harrison border that was permitted in Harrison

Stephanie,

I suspect your DO is for horizontal legs that traverse a long distance and go through your property. I do not foresee any issue with signing the DO.

Hi Katrina, I was given right at what you and your brother were given. so we are right in line with each other. I am very interested in what happens in September??? if there going to re-up with you or not, and if you get another 21k each? Because in my leases I don’t think we will get another signing bonus, its like $10 an acre for every acre you have leased to them. (I think), not 100% sure, thanks for your in put, I hope thing happen for you and your brother soon, good luck, Ryan

Nancy, If I’am not mistaken both the Banner and Tabar wells were listed in the Doddridge County Newspaper as being sent to WVDEP for Permitting, however, they are not listed in the Oil & Gas permits at all, I believe that Antero has STOPPED a lot of permitted and what has been permitted is on very long slow down or stopped. I have one well that was permitted in 2012 and just received a D.O last month, some well’s that I leased in 2014-15, have been permitted but who knows what is happening ? One thing that I have done in the past, when a well is permitted, is to call some of the people that is listed in your unit and lives in Doddridge and find out what they know,( if you can find them). This worked with me for the Holden Well, kind of keeps you in touch with production. Bottom line as Kyle said, until enough pressure is put on them, WE WAIT.

Stephanie,

Yes, this kind of thing does happen, but on a very rare occasion. Assuming this is an Antero well, I would contact the Denver office to clarify any concerns. Typically a voicemail is required to be left, but I have found the Denver office fairly responsive and usually hear back from them within two days.

Wish you the best luck in resolving your questions!

Laurie,

Depending on the Production Company, but I would guess-timate 30 days to be a reasonable period of time, from signing a DO to receiving a check.

I actually have a subscription for Rig Data and it tells the weekly locations and weekly permits, so far nothing,
