How do you find out the progress on a well being drilled in Doddridge Co.?
That is one of the primary questions most of us have. So far, I do not have the answer. I can go to the pad,ask questions. usually get questionable answers. Watch traffic, talk to neighbors. Look at the WVDEP OOG site, Google maps, Talk to the operating company. etc., etc. Draw conclusions. Usually wrong. Two years later data will show up on DEP site. Somewhere during this period I will get a delivery order, hopefully. Then, sometime later a check. Will be checking this site to see if anyone else can supply the answer.
We were told they are drilling now. It should be maybe 2months before we get any royalities. Just wanted to know how to check progress. Thank you for your reply.
Margaret, Guess I jumped to the conclusion that the well, to which you refer, is a Marcellus Horizontal. If so, what I am seeing is 4 to 9 months before you get a check. First you should get a Delivery order, then later the first check. If it is a conventional vertical well, the time would be much shorter.
If anyone has any different info please jump in.
Yes it is Marcellus horizontal. This is what we were told when we called to check on the progress. So,check won’t come for 4to9 months? Hmmm, not what we were told. New to all this so really don’t know the ends and outs. Thank you!
Pretty much how these companies work, Once they get a lease signed, it is all business from then on. You will be very lucky if you ever get any communication from the company. You are not important to them after you sign something over to them and give them the green light. That's why it is important to get everything in writing so you can at least call them on it if something don't match. We were negotiating with a company and after they signed some of the gullible family mineral owners, we have not heard a word from them since spring. They are probably hoping to get the Integration/forced pooling bill passed next year. That bill, in it's true form, would allow companies to obtain by law, the mineral rights not leased and give the owner minimal royalty. I just have a hard time dealing with people you can not trust.
DT: you are so right , the companies do not want to communicate, so wife and I traveled from Utah to Doddridge County, drove around for 5-day's and found some answers, it's too bad one need travel so far but believe it was worth the trip.

I live in Utah and I just returned from Doddridge where I spent 5-day's driving around, but I found several of my interest, by having permit numbers a GPS and asking questions, It can be done but not from the Lessee, or landman, who in my case is Antero. So I traveled 4000 thousand miles to look and was successful, but why does one have to do this ?? We should all get together and pitch a bitch.

Arnold, the oil/gas companies love it when you are miles away. That way they don't have to look over their shoulder when they are in the your area. The landmen sure are diligent in finding you and your property but, once you sign a lease you would have thought you had been dealing with a ghost??
