Has anyone had any experience with EMPERADOR ENERGY CO. LLC ? Their correspondence only gives a P.O. BOX in Oklahoma City. We recieved an offer from them to purchase mineral rights in Caddo County . Are they legitimate? Thanks for your responses.
I don’t have any personal experience, but here is how I vet…
They do not have any presence on LinkedIn or anyone with the company who is with AAPL. It also looks like their tax person is the registered agent with the state, so no information at all as to who is with the company. It could be a ‘front’ company that a bigger operator uses to buy minerals cheaper. Lack of address/employees/presence would point to that.
Theres not much information on them . They have a 1 page website. The gentleman that contacted us is an independent land man representing the company. There are a few older post about the company on this forum. It looks like the folks did get paid eventually. Thanks for sharing your vetting criteria.
I also check on Bizapedia. I did so and they are listed as “expired”. Makes me think “hmmm”. I also check number of employees and addresses. If it is a strip mall where 600 other companies are at the same address, it is another “hmmm”. I check Better Business Bureau to see if complaints. I also check LinkedIn for more info on the main contacts listed. Just to get a comfort level of expertise.
When I get an offer to buy, it usually means that someone has more information than I do and thinks they will make a profit, so they make an offer to see who will bite. They usually have more knowledge about pending drilling. So find out about the activity near your section. They will rarely tell you about new drilling because they want that profit.
Thanks for checking with Bizapedia. If “expired” status means they are no longer an LLC thats not a real great indication. Some where I saw a name and address of 1 officer of that company and possibly a phone number.
Can’t comment about the LLC status, you would have to check with the Sec. of State’s office.
