Fayette and Lavaca County TX Oil Activity

Any updates or rumors on the Capital Star Lanik or the EOG Francis wells? Anyone heard anything else about EOG’s plans to start drilling to the NE towards Schulenburg? Things seem to have gotten quiet again.

Musta been on another thread but I saw somewhere on this site that EOG has physically started site prep for a well between Moravia and Breslau on 957. I had some diesel not doing anything so I decided to drive down there and be nosy. So do a bunch of stakes in the ground mean anything? No clue BUT that’s what I saw on the west side of 957 and north of CR 244. That matches up with wherever I got that information so we shall see. The clock is ticking on all their leases though.

If the EOG FRANCIS WELL, is the one west of LCR 179, near Wied Cemetary, it is West, across the pasture from my Daughter’s house. There not pooled in that one. There is quite a bit of surface equipment on the pad. Compressor, Barrel tanks, and Separator tanks, and it was Fracked. They were told that 2 or 3 more wells will be drilled, and that they will be going Easterly again. The Lanik well, near Mont, and the Francis are not Eagle Ford, I’m told that they are Austin Chalk. Mont used to be deep, Edwards Gas country. We need the Paul Harvey rest of the story!

Based on your description of the location, there’s nothing on the Texas RRC site about a permitted well there at this stage. However, yes, the stakes you saw could be for staking a well, so they could be prepping to get it surveyed, etc. and submit a permit to the RRC.

This is EOG’s Francis Unit

Yes Sir, the gate is off of FM 1891, there wasn’t a sign saying any information at the cattle guard entrance.

Breslau well permit has posted

Thanks for posting that. Some questions: Did you get it off of the RRC site? I looked there and couldn’t find it. What’s the Unit name? I can’t quite make it out on the image you posted. I find the shape of the Unit interesting because it doesn’t have the same NW-SE orientation that we’re used to seeing. It’ll be interesting to see how the well is actually drilled.

The RRC. Here is the link. BLACKSHEAR UNIT is the name

Form W-1: Field List

Thanks for sending. I guess I didn’t realize that there’s such a thing as Redhawk OPERATING. Thought they were a leasing company only. Seems like they’re really trying to hide the ball with that plus no actual well location on the plat.

WI, I drove over to the BLACKSHEAR UNIT this morning, boy there is a lot of pad construction going on, really large pad being built, and a real large fracking pit being built. Maintainers, packers, 10 belly dump trailers rolled out of the while I was there. Light plants too, so I guess they’re going to work at night too! This pad is in the middle of the 4 wells that SEV TEXAS OPERATING drilled back in 2011 & 2012. Three dry holes, the Steffek took off good, and slacked off after @ six months. The Ridout, Rother, and Spies, were the others. Mr. ML seemed to have some input on these wells. I hope he’s still monitors this site. Seems like they were looking for the Wilcox 9500 formation. I hope this is a good sign of things to happen to this area!

John, you have a good memory about those SEV wells. I looked them up and they were all vertical and drilled to 9500 or 9600 feet. Two were dry holes and the other two weren’t but I’m too lazy to research what they produced. Hopefully they’re wildly successful… or at least successful enough to keep going in other locations toward the north and east.

WI, I too, was leased to SEV (SIGMA ENERGY VENTURES) at the same time, all that was going on. I have a lot of the correspondence, in a VERY DUSTY folder, from Mr. ML, and others about the hopes of the HACKBERRY PROJECT. My land is in the GW & WH Scott area, but no phone call yet!

In case anyone was interested, the BLACKSHEAR UNIT rig is up, not sure if they were drilling yet. A lot of ground activity going on. The rig is NABORS 1209.
