My mother passed away in 2006 and I believe she has mineral rights in Kingfisher County, Oklahoma. Can anyone tell me how I would go about finding out if she did and what steps to take to get these divided amongst her children. Any help would be appreciated.
the initial and simplest way is to do internet searches. okcountyrecords.com may show that she or your grandparents executed an oil and gas lease, or received a mineral deed. I would also check the unclaimed property divisions of Oklahoma and the state where she last lived. Now, if this doesn’t show anything, that doesn’t mean she didn’t. The next step would be to search the records in Kingfisher, either personally, or by hiring a land professional.
