I am new to this forum and this is my first post
I own mineral acres in Hughes County, OK (Section 12-6N-10E) that I inherited from my mother.
She had leased these minerals to Newfield Exploration prior to her death. The lease was later sold to Barta Enterprises in OKC. I can't find any contact for Barta. How can I find out who has the lease now and if it is producing? I believe the well is named Boycehill or Boycebill 3-12.
Might start with NEWFIELD in Tulsa or check OCC website.
I have spoken with Newfield in Tulsa. That is how I got the info on Barta Enterprises and the well name. I did not find anything on Barta Enterprises in OKC. What is this OCC website address that you mention?
You can check the Oklahoma Corporation Commission web site @ www.occweb.com select the Division tab and select Oil & Gas Division. You can search their database - lot to digest - on line. You can also call the OCC District IV office in Ada. They handle Hughes County and they will sometimes help you over the phone. Depends on who you get and how busy they are. 1400 Hoppe Blvd. Suite D Ada, OK 74820-2312 580-332-3441 Office. Good luck !
Actually there are three wells currently producing in that section, though none are what I'd call "spectacular." The Bill Boyce wells (both # 2-12 and #3-12) are operated by Newfield Exploration Mid-continent currently. The third well is called the Strickland 1 and is operated by GLB Exploraion, Inc.
All three wells are in the North Half of the section, so you'd only share in the production from them if your mineral rights were in that half of the section.
You'd want to contact these operating companies (not Barta) and ask them if they show your mom as one of their payees. If so, you'll need to get the mineral rights transferred into your name if they haven't been already so that they can begin paying you in your own name.
Hope this helps you out.
