Finding San Juan County Lease

I have about 160 acres in Bloomfield presently paying royalties on 3 wells. I have not been able to find the original lease or terms. I thought it would be registered at the County Registrar in Aztec. I have been there and can’t find any leases connected to the property.

The property has been in my family since the 1920s. The first well was first producing in 1962. The others were 1981 & 1984.

Is there one lease for all wells? And where can I find a copy?

Contact the operating company if the wells are still producing. They should have a copy. If the wells are no longer producing and it has been more than a year, then the lease is probably no longer valid unless they paid a shut in payment.
