JW For some reason I missed your last post . Offering the 1/8th is like going fishing . You put your bait out and if you catch something great. Deductions are more limited in the pooling, that is why the oil co will agree to the addendum. If you are in the pooling and the information is correct as shown in the records then you get the default option if you do not make an election, but sometimes the oil co. miss something. If you think it would help I can give you my # in a friend request . Sorry I didn’t see your message sooner .
Hi Deborah. I am not around Haward I am on the West side of Garfield County and we have received 2 offers on a non producing farm in the last year from 2 different companies. THe first one offered $800.00 an acre (a joke) and the recent one last week $1500.00 per acre. There was a well on it until last year and they messed it up and could not get it going again. There is some heavy action 5 miles north of us in this part of the county but not much close to this well yet. You get to thinking that $240,000 is pretty sweet to have in your hand right now until I remember the story of the guy who sold his rights near Alva and had to put up with a dusty lease road next to his house, and watching the oil trucks haul 2 loads of oil a day past him setting on the porch! I believe his land is pumping a steady 400 bbls a day! Would be my luck that the rights I keep are duds and the one I sell would reach that $240,000 mark in a couple of months! What are they offering over near Hayward and is there activity near there?
Sean I guess you are held by production or you sign a lease. I say this because you were not listed in the pooling order. They have a drilling permit but no spud notice has been filed so I guess they haven’t started yet. The pooling offered $550 for 1/8th , or 500 for 3/16th , but if you are hbp or leased it would not apply to you.
One more thing… If I was not on the pooling order, then why did I receive the notice on it in the mail? Did you look for ‘Sean Clay’ on the pooling order? It might be listed under ‘Sean Shelby Cochrane’ or ‘Maxine Cochrane Clay’ instead. Is there a place that I can check out the pooling order myself? Thanks!
Hey that is great! I did find myself on that list (#381), so I guess I get whatever they are offering. I didn’t get any paperwork asking what bonus/percentage I wanted, so I guess they have not sent it out yet. Thanks again for the information.
Does anyone actually live near the Covington area and is there any actual movement occuring in the area, rigs, etc? It is just so hard to follow from 2 and 1/2 hours away. I could only imagine living out of state. I do realize it is just a gamble on leasing not, selling not. Completely new to this. I thought maybe when offers were coming in to buy the minerals that maybe this was a good sign. Also have heard that hotels are going up around that area. Might also be a sign. I am also wondering if 5 miles W of Perry Oklahoma might be in the Mississippi Limestone formation?
My force-pooled acreage is in Sec12 T21N R3W and nobody contacted me to lease it out. They had my correct address on the pooling papers, but I guess it was easier just to pool me. I have other acreage in Sec 14 T22N R4W that I would like to get leased out. Anyone in that area getting decent offers from landmen?
Ron, I went back and looked over the papers again, and I am not on the first PDF that you showed, which is the pooling one. I looked on the second one, http://imaging.occeweb.com/AP/CaseFiles/OCC4322275.PDF and found my name on it (#381) and assumed that it was the list of pooled owners. I guess this is only a spacing report, and not related to pooling. As far as I know, this lease is not in production (no checks coming in), and since I am on the spacing report, I don’t know how they missed me. Thanks for setting me straight on the pooling business.
Deborah, I drove from Wakita to Enid to Covington and South on 74 (towards the farm) on Sunday for Memorial Day to put flowers on graves of several relatives buried in Garfield County. Like you I’m about 2-2 1/2 hours away, and haven’t been down there for a year. I only saw 5 drilling rigs from direct line of sight on 412 and 74. Several newer wells, but not a lot of actual drilling. I should have gone on down to Logan County but needed to get back home. Granted there’s some goofy land formations around Covington but I didn’t see a whole lot of activity. Hopefully that will pick up soon.
