Hello all, I just discovered my mom had mineral rights in Garvin County. She passed away 2 years ago and I just got around to cleaning out her lock box :( I took some paper work to the Pauls Valley Courthouse and they verified that yes she did. She didn't have a will so I am working on the Affidavit of Heirship. I did however enroll on the mineral rights registry. My problem is that I am having trouble reading the legal paperwork. The lady at the courthouse checked off each section of land that she had rights too. Is their a map or something I can find on line that would help me find exactly where this property is?
Thanks so much!

Susan, an Affidavit of Heirship will usually get you leased but to get paid royalties you might need Judicial Administration of the estate depending on if she had a will or died intestate.
Thanks so much! This will be interesting reading. I know I will have a lot more questions. Thanks again
so I really need a oil and Gas attorney to get me all fixed up correct? I am totally lost.

Depends on what you have in the way of documentation of her estate. It wouldn't hurt to at least consult with a O&G lawyer. Rick Howell who posted above has had a lot of experience in these matters he may have some words of wisdom for you.
Thanks! I have the chain of title from the courthouse and that's about it. I was her Power of attorney and she had no will. In the end no assets at all so I was really surprised to find this out.
