Garvin County, OK - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

From the horses mouth “Stephen’s Co. Sec. 16 2n,4w (the Branch) now at 19,000 ft. and drilling”.

Was kind of hoping we could start something else in Stephen’s but guess we can’t be greedy and need to share the wealth with our fellow Okies. lol

According to Newfield man they are real close to the end of the drilling process on “the Branch” in sec. 16, 2n,4w. Any idea where that rig might be going next?? That’s Cactus Rig #154.

Linda i would probably say that Newfield will move the rig up in Grady county, they have had 3 intent to drill permits in the last month up there, read the Grady County forum comment wall the permits should be listed

Is any of this happening in Garvin County??

Yes, there is quite a bit going on in Garvin. They just finished one in Garvin south of Purdy about 3 miles. There is a rig just north of Lindsay about 3 miles. There were three rigs drilling SW of Erin Springs. I believe there are plans for one north of Pernell sometime soon. There is going to be one if it’s not already on the Garvin Co. line west of Hiway 76 about 4 miles to name a few and there are probably several more that I don’t know about. If you go back several pages in this forum there has been talk about several. Do you have some royalty or surface in Garvin?

Yes, Lynden, you may be right about the one north of Lindsay. It is close to the line of Garvin and McClain and I’m not sure which side exactly. I’m going up through there tomorrow and will try to take notice.

I have interest in the Smith. I can’t get much information about its status. I think I’ll call Marathon tomorrow.

Linda, from my notes I see the Lyle in 30, 3N,4W; the Vesta Marie in 29, 3N,4W and the Smith in 18, 3N,4W. I think the one north of Lindsay is in McClain Cty. From my interest it seems they are avoiding anything held by production in the Purdy Hart and Springer sand units. Charles, I am only looking at 3 and 4N, 4W. Baker Hughes interactive map shows one rig right in the middle of the county.

Linda, yes I do. Section 9, T1N, R2W

Lynden, I looked at the drilling rig north of Lindsay again but I had my mind somewhere else by the time I crossed the McClain Co. line. I do believe the rig has to be in Garvin as it nearly directly from the Lindsay Golf Course which is 3 miles north of town (not the 4 miles I first said). There is a drilling rig either going up or coming down several miles north of there on the west side of the road. It’s definally in McClain Co.

Anxious for hubby to get to the coffee shop in the morning to get an update on our little well. He had another appt. this morning so we didn’t get a report

Well, I learn something new everyday! I’ve lived here since the seventh grade (minus a few years after we were married 44 yrs. ago) and my whole family are golfers and I never knew the Lindsay Golf Course was in McClain Co. lol My dad even helped finance the building of the course when it was remodeled. I did know that the land belonged to our friend, Bob Poteet. Thanks for the geography lesson, Lynden. The name of the well shouldn’t be hard to remember, you think? lol

Linda, guess what? The golf course is in McClain. What you saw, I think, is the Golf Course 1-28, permitted on 3.16.2012 in sec 28, 5N, 4W. And it is on Poteet land. The Baker Hughes map has three rigs drilling for oil in that area just north of the county line.

Lynden, even though it’s May you might still not be able to spot the golf course by looking for a green oasis as they sprayed the fairways a little too late and the rough is now greener than the fairways. I think they will come back but it may take a while.

Gale, I bet you were talking about Big Royce Freeman (the one they called Cotton) which would probably be the age that Royce Foley would have been.

Never realized there were so many Royces around here! lol

What I meant to say was the rig is “nearly directly across the hiway from the golf course” Fingers getting ahead of my brain again. Sorry

It’s official, Lynden, I looked today as I went to pick up my granddaughter and not only is the Lindsay Golf Course in McClain Co but our cemetary is also over the line into McClain Co. How bout that!!!

No, Gale, he is talking about his Uncle Royce Foley. Royce Freeman lived around here too but was much younger as was Royce Clingman. I don’t know where Royce Freeman is living now but Royce Foley and Royce Clingman have both passed away (Foley several years ago and Clingman a few years ago from an accident that took him way too young. They have both been missed.

Woops, hubby said Royce (Cotton) Freeman wasn’t nearly as old as Royce Foley would have been. In fact, he said Royce Foley was probably Royce Freeman’s teacher when he was in school. And that’s all I’m saying about that! Sorry about my rambling.

Linda, not the cemetery! When I was looking for the golf course on Google Earth I was looking for a green oasis that would jump out at me but I couldn’t find it. Of course the image was from February but it reminded me that my uncle Royce never carried a wood in his bag. He probably used a one or two iron off the tee to keep it low out of the wind and let it roll on that hard surface.
