Hi. I manage mineral rights for my wife and her mother.
We recently received a notification from a Grady County landman about a property that her deceased father has rights to. It was a surprise to find something still in his name.
From the documentation, I see an assignment made in 1971 but nothing after that. There were two owners on the assignment, but I don’t see a subsequent re-assignment under either name.
How do assignments work? Would he still have rights to this property? I do see deed / title / etc activity on that property name through the years.
What type of search or investigation should I do in the public records to put these puzzle pieces together?
