Many vertical oil wells have been popping up in Cass County in the past 2-3 years and now horizontals are getting in play in a new field called “Hidden Rock, Cotton Valley Lime”. Looking to continue a discussion group if anyone is interested. I’ve been watching completion records and seeing verticals in the 10’s and some up close to 200 bpd potentials.
Seems like there are 2 operators in the area that don’t get along very well, like a couple bobcats fighting over territory, kinda fun to watch.
Also would like to ask about specific lease language around “operations”. “…Lessee is engaged in drilling, reworking or other operations calculated to obtain or restore production from the leased premises…” Does this allow an operator to hold a lease after the primary term if, say, a pad is complete, water well dug, surface casing installed, etc… but a rig is not yet on site?
