Hi Gracie... I am not sure, but that could be the case. Eagle Rock has been drilling straight holes thru several sections in 5N-5W. They completed their first horizontal this past summer and 2 more are in the works. Continental just recently applied for a horizontal in 7-5N-5W, which is just west of section 10. I see that Sheridan is listed as the operator for 2 wells listed as active in 10-5N-5W.
Last update before Christmas. I added a new old well that I just saw tonight. It was in 8-6N-5W and was actually completed in 2009. Oops!

Don,
Thanks Don. One of those wells Sheridan has is mine and its HBP. It is not producing much. Continental bought the Woodford formation from Sheridan and I am hoping for a great horizontal!.
Merry Christmas to you and everyone on the forum. 2014 will be a profitable year, I am predicting!
There is a large area near 10-5-5, especially south of there, that has no horizontal wells. Would you know if that area is mostly HBP?
Thanks
Gracie... except for sections 3, 6, and 19 all of the sections in 5N-5W appear to be HBP. According to OCC records there are active wells on the other sections. Many sections have multiple wells.
Wow, this is fantastic Don. Really great in helping to visualize whats going on where. Thank you for doing such a super job and sharing with the rest of us.
First update for 2014... 5th overall.
2196-HorizontalWellsinGradyCounty5.xlsx (21.1 KB)Don, thanks again for a great job and work put into this. This might be the most important single document to track everything.
I do have a question. I see you have colored coded sections 19, 34, and 36 in 10N, 7W as Marathon. Why did you add these sections to the document, ie some OCC filing?
Thanks again.
Lawrence, I went back and added horizontal applications dated prior to 2013. I don't know if anything will come of them, but thought everyone should know about them.

Don, thank you very much because I had not seen those orders before but things now make sense. The reason I am so interested is that I have mineral interests in sections 20, 28, 29, 32 and 33 in 10N, 7W which is right in this area. I am also leased to Marathon in section 28. My understanding is Marathon is no longer interested in Northern Grady with Continental and Cimarex plus others taking up their lease positions as they expire. Cimarex is heavily leasing in Sections 22 and 36 plus drilling Rocky Roads in Section 23.
It is your spreadsheet but I would suggest taking those 3 Marathon applications off because they will not happen much to my huge disappointment.
If you would like to add lease info to this spreadsheet, I would be happy to help for my 9 sections.
Thanks for the information Lawrence... I was wondering why Marathon had not gone any further on those sections. I took them off the spreadsheet. I did add the Russell 1-30H... the pad was in 31-10N-8W. It looks like it was a dry hole (Cimarex). As far as I have found, the only Woodford horizontal that was not completed in Grady County. I also added the Nevu 33-3H (9-8N-8W) and Nevu 53-3H (17-8N-8W). Both of those wells were drilled to the Marchand formation by Sheridan.
2195-HorizontalWellsinGradyCounty6.xlsx (21.3 KB)Don, thanks again. I will do some checking on the Russell well because sometimes they lose a tool or otherwise ruin a well and then abandon. You have put this well in 7W and believe should be in 8W.
Darn... sure did. Thanks!
2194-HorizontalWellsinGradyCounty6.xlsx (21.2 KB)You have the Russell in 30-10-8. For clarification, was the pad was located in 31-10-8 but it was exploring 30-10-8? I have interest leased to Cimarex in 30-10-8. (and 19-10-8). We've been wondering if and when they might drill either. I'd sure hate to hear they did and it came up dry.
I found the amended drilling permit and think I answered my own question, that is the case. Any more information on what happened with the Russell 1-30H would be appreciated!
Duff... digging a little deeper, there is an order dismissing the previous orders (I think). http://imaging.occeweb.com/AP/Orders/02FC9401.pdf
Looks like they only went 40 feet according to the plugging record.
http://imaging.occeweb.com/OG/Well%20Records/03060D07.pdf
The reason for plugging says: "location was built and conductor set, Well did not meet requirements to drill". Not sure what that means.
I will delete this well from my spreadsheet next time I post one.
Thanks for the update and hard work on keeping people informed! I hope they are still thinking about drilling 30-10-8. The lease expires soon. It will be interesting to see if they extend it.
Duff... Turner Oil and Gas Properties has recorded 2 leases in 2014 in 30-10N-8W.
Good to know. Someone contacted my sister a few months ago about leasing but we didn't follow up on it since it is currently leased, the lease has an extension clause and we really had know idea what's been going on in Grady County. Maybe that was Turner. I can't really tell from your spreadsheet if they have started exploring Grady County yet but I do see on the internet where they leased a bunch of rights around Lake Chickasha earlier in the year. They were offering $750 and 3/16, and the current 3 year old lease is $1000 3/16 with a two year extension option for another $1000. Whomever offered, it seemed like a premature low offer in light of the past lease, and that's the other reason we didn't follow up. The primary term with Cimarex ends about March 1. It will be interesting to see if Cimarex moves on or makes another attempt. I'm glad someone is in the wings!
I have added a second tab to the spreadsheet called "Leases by Township-Range". It has the number of oil and gas leases (15, 163) recorded at the Grady County Clerk's Office from 1-2011 thru 12-2013 (3 years) by township and range. There have been 238 new leases filed county-wide so far in 2014. The lease numbers were not reviewed for duplicates. Filter (instrument type) was for "Oil and Gas Lease" only.
