Horizontal Wells in Grady County (Excel Map)

I have been working on a somewhat crude (pun intended) map of horizontal wells that have been completed in Grady County since January, 2010. I was trying to get a flavor of where the horizontal wells are/were being drilled. Straight hole wells and directional wells are not included. The left most column (A) has the townships and the top row (1) has the ranges. Each section has its own cell location. I have added well spuds to the spreadsheet along with the completions. Permits to Drill are not included. Companies are color coded, i.e., Continental is yellow.

Included in the well information is the well name and number, testing date, company, formation, barrels of oil per day (Bopd), gas MCF day, flowing or pumping and choke used. Sections that have had more than one well drilled and completed are added together, i.e., the Spies wells.

I will update the spreadsheet as more wells are spud and/or completed.

Thanks Don, looks like a lot of hard work. I added row and column for 2N/4W so I could put the Poteet on there.

Nothing near our unleased 14 9N 5W but this is an excellent tool for those who are mineral owners in ‘hot’ areas. Wish other counties had something like this. Thanks!

Don, this is just excellent--many thanks for the digging and collating. (Now if something would just move Arrington/Newy/Eula Mae/Bearden off the dime down in the SE corner....)

What does the term "Well Spuds" mean?

Agreed, very well done. Sure beats the heck out of my pencil version! The one thing that jumps out at me is recent addition of multiunit wells to the area. Your map shows only 1 competed multiunit well (Singer 1-18-7XH) but 5 more that are currently in the drilling/completion process.

Well Spud Date = The day when the drilling bit penetrates the surface.

GD, you may have missed the Hansell 1-3-34XH. It was just recently completed by Continental. Your right about the recent additions of so many multi-unit wells. It looks like Continental is stepping up its game. I for one an glad to see them. I hope it means they will be getting to my sections sooner than later! :)

I have an old picture when I was 18 months old & still in diapers, 1949. A well was started then in 1949. The well came in and produced

royalties for years.

Don, I'm hoping the same. They can get acreage HBP faster doing two at a time. I would sure like to see some more wells in my section within my lifetime!

Don,

You can add the Olson in 22 4N 5W

Thanks Tom, it's there. Olson 1-22H Dec 9, 2012 Continental / Woodford 84 Bopd 2874 Gas MCFd Flowing 38/64.

Updated... Added Permits to Drill and OCC Horizontal Well Applications.

Nice work Don! Thanks for all the time that you invested in putting this together, it really brings the Grady county SCOOP to life.

Thanks, Don. Exactly the information I've been looking for. We're in 30-10-8 and leased to Cimarex but the current lease is about to expire. We've got one lease hound barking and are wondering if Cimarex will get busy drilling before the term is up or extend the lease.

Don, thank you for all this hard work and it is an excellant overview. I hope you will continue to keep it updated.

Comment to Duff B. Cimarex told me they would be drilling out their leases east of their recent Vickery well but then they started leasing in 22-10-7 and now 36-10-7. The Rocky Road well in the spreadsheet in 23-10-7 is a Cimarex well with sone kind of assignment because that section is HBP. It will be interesting to see where Cimarex really wants to drill.

Thanks everyone... I kind of enjoy watching the spreadsheet/map take shape. Here is the latest update with some new completions and horizontal well filings... looks like Continental is slowly working its way north and west. The multi-unit horizontal well filings have really picked up for both Continental and Marathon.

Thanks for the information on Cimarex, Lawrence.

Don,

There is a large area near 10-5-5, especially south of there, that has no horizontal wells. Would you know if that area is mostly HBP?

Thanks
