Would someone kindly point me to white paper or article that explains horizontal wells and who gets the royalties on production. I own a small NMA in a section that has had horizontal drilling in it but I didn’t received any royalty.
Specifically, I am referring to the Dalwhinnie 1-5-4-3XHW and Dalwhinnie 1R-5-4-3XHW. I am fairly sure the “3” in the name refers to Section 3 in Murray County, OK where I own a small NMA. I am sure there is some explanation but I would like to better understand the intracacies.
Dalwhinnie 1R-5-4-3XHW API 3504925395 was drilled by Continental Resources and completed 5/22/23. First sales were 5/24/23. Surface location is in Garvin sec 32-01n-01E, so you need to look for the OCC docs in that section. It turned and went into sections 5, 4 and 3 of Murray 01S-01E. The percentages of perforations in your section determines the decimal for the royalties. Your net acres, your royalty percentage are the other parts of the equation. The other Dalwhinnie you mentioned was the first permit, but the 1R was actually drilled. You need to contact Continental Resources Division Order department to see why you are not in pay. You may have a cloud on title. If they have your correct address, you should have gotten tons of mailings about the new wells. Get in touch quickly as there are infill wells coming.
Decimal amount = net acres/actual spacing acres x royalty x percentage of perfs in your section.
